JJ0063 Posted Sunday at 21:48 Author Posted Sunday at 21:48 Browsing the usual sites and nothing interests me.. I think I may have owned too many cars and run out of viable, appealing options 😂
JJ0063 Posted Monday at 22:03 Author Posted Monday at 22:03 So the Connect sold tonight. One of the quickest FB marketplace sales I’ve had. Listed Sunday afternoon, sold Monday evening. £4500 cash to put in the bank and now to find something else. I’m thinking of either going back to ideally a 5 series touring, or perhaps my first ever Audi as my 71st car.. A6 Avant maybe? Give it a few days and I’ll buy something completely different.. Once in front of him (I don’t know the guy but he runs a wrapping/detailing company near me and has done for 23 years and is well known so I sort of trust him) however did count twice again once he left and found he’d paid £10 too much 😂
High Jetter Posted Monday at 22:34 Posted Monday at 22:34 Bonus. Cash is King. Feels good, even with these placcy polymer notes. JJ0063 1

JJ0063 Posted Tuesday at 10:27 Author Posted Tuesday at 10:27 This caught my eye this morning… S4 Avant with the 3.0 supercharged V6. Enthusiast owned, has a subtle exhaust and a switchable map (400, 480 and 507bhp)… I had a chat with the seller who said he still gets half decent economy - 25/27 day to day and 30+ on a run. The killer for me I think would be maintenance, he said the supercharger has had a rebuild and that cost £6500 for that and the mapping. High mileage, high powered petrol probably isn’t a sensible financial decision….

Having said that a diesel has the ability to rinse when it goes wrong. JJ0063 1

The ideal outcome is definitely a 530D touring, or A6 Avant 3.0 TDI. Whether I can find something in budget is another story but I like a challenge!

JJ0063 Posted Wednesday at 10:25 Author Posted Wednesday at 10:25 Would a car being cat N put you off? I’ve never owned one, Mrs JJ’s Mini was and she didn’t care. https://www.facebook.com/share/16rBsrDXXC/?mibextid=wwXIfr This looks absolutely ideal, best engine, nice shape, very clean MOT history and the salvage photos I’ve just found on HPI look such minor damage.
Mally Posted Wednesday at 10:37 Posted Wednesday at 10:37 It's not a problem. Until you try to sell it and they offer half of the going rate.

If you can stand the possible drop when you sell it next month then carry on. Some buy them without a thought, some worry about insurance. You know the insurance don't care. How does the payout work should you claim?
S2000 Posted Wednesday at 11:03 Posted Wednesday at 11:03 If it was going to be a long term keeper for me, personally it would not matter, as I would be mentally depreciating it to zero from day one (keeping 6-8 years) so if I got a grand max after 8 years I'd be happy. If you want to scratch the itch and can afford a 'hit' once you sell it in 12 months fine, make sure you get an all singing/dancing warranty with it and full service before collection to lessen the 'hit' man maths style when you sell it. BTW it is a great colour, and will pull harder than Jordans nasal passage through a rolled up fiver! DO IT JJ0063 1

I think 7k is a fair price, it’s clean, sought after model, decent history, clean MOT history.. lots going for it. Something like that I would realistically own for a year without having thoughts of selling, but I also have to be realistic that I do sell cars rather than keep hold of them. Going to have a think on this as I WANT it, a lot, however it’s more than I want to spend and still has the marker hanging over it.
Shandylegs Posted Wednesday at 11:47 Posted Wednesday at 11:47 I personally have no issue with a Cat N or even an Cat S, but go in with your eyes wide open as I've seen some really poor repairs/bodges. If I buy, it's always at the very lowest I can get away with - everyone says 20 to 30% less than non-category value. I like to start at 50%, with a little leeway if it's been well repaired. Be prepared for even more idiots than usual and a longer timescale when selling though, which is why perhaps it wouldn't be for you? JJ0063 1
w00dy Posted Wednesday at 13:07 Posted Wednesday at 13:07 Feels quite pricey for a written off non-ULEZ/Whatever 11 year old VAG diesel with nearly 150k. Right in the sweet spot for being a pain in the arse and will be hard to sell with the marker. yes oui si and JJ0063 1 1

ULEZ isn’t a factor where we are, I wouldn’t even know how to check if it was exempt I think it’s priced fair for what it is, there’s certainly nothing else in that region for the same engine/spec etc. I’ve saved it and am still looking but it’s certainly top contender at the moment
