Volkswagen LT?

Isn't it a MAN? I'm sure they went through a phase of using the cab from VW LTs.

Are they actually going to make that stupid Aston Martin thing? What a load of old rubbish.Must say that new Delta looks pretty cool, they need to get back into the Uk really, there must be a market for them

I shouldn't have forgotten our Aston Martin Cygnet Toyota Aygo--

It's based on a Toyota IQ, not the Aygo.

The Arna isn'r really a rebadged Cherry TBH, more a reskinned Alfasud. It's pretty different underneath to a Cherry. They did however rebadge the Cherry as a Holden Astra and then sling a classy GM lump under the bonnet. Nice...

They also sold the Nissan Patrol as a Ford...

Ooof. That sounds truly hideous. Bloke who worked in my local scrapyard used to collect Arnas and Cherry Europes. Absolutely loved the things. Eventually he bought an Alfa 33 and that cured him. He now drives a Daewoo.

Just jogged my memory. What about these:

IIRC they were Astra and Cavalier based?

Has anybody mentioned the Cadillac BLS?

I quite like them, but it just seemed like further proof of GM's product planning mentalism to facelift a SAAB 9-3 and from it produce a Europe-only Cadillac - a brand nobody was particularly fond of the last half dozen attempts GM made to market it in Europe.

I'm on no ones side here But no offence to this saab dude that keeps having stupid keyboard wars with everyone BUT Before he was here there was friendly banter Sometimes a disagreement But not this chipping away at eachother So i suggest or ask Saabhappy, it would be appreciated by myself and everyone else if certain things like opinions that would spark little wars, were kept to yourselfAs i am sure you are aware this is a fantastic forum and we would like to keep it that way I also ask pete and pog. Boys don't rise to the occasion Please ?

We'll be fine. "stupid keyboard wars with everyone" is a wild exaggeration though, if you're being fair.Cut the MGB/Sherpa jibes (not even historically plausible) about a car I really like and which are getting to be tediously predictable, and I won't be so rude as to suggest that a BMW 3-series has loads in common with a bedpan as both are used to carry turds from one place to another, Seeemples! Or is "banter" a one-way street?

Like how you edited the post to add that little bit on the end to make sure the post was as irritating/provoking as possible.

Anyway...

Anyone know what the story with these is?

I doubt that will happen. Not here anyway. Sorry.

Maybe it was something to do with geography - i.e. it was more cost effective at the time to re-badge Japanese Hondas and import them to Aus, rather than sending British made Rondas over there.

Really interesting thread, some absolute chimeras on here aleady (no not the TVR kind  )

I always wonder, with badge-overs like this, were the basge owners not at all concerned that the product they were selling might not live up to the quality standards achieved across the rest of their range? Same with the Chrysler/VW minivan posted earlier.

That Innocenti Regent reminds me of this puppy I posted elsewhere, Innocenti 1100

Not sure if it qualifies for 'worst' rebadge though, as my Orbis 'On Four Wheels' article on the brand claims they were better made than BL's effort. Then again, On four Wheels also described the dash in a Volvo 264 as like 'a jet aircraft' so I don't know what to think.

Probably good cars at this point, but the current one is meant to be poor:

The rear suspension is Cherry, and I imagine that most of the floorpan is too, as the Arna has the Cherry, rather than 'sud wheelbase.I always wondered how you'd operate the heater fan on these, by the switch on the Cherry dash (that the Arna uses) or the Alfasud wiper switch (that the Arna also uses). In the days of great 'Car' scoops, the Arna's photos were accompanied by the text "... and our pictures show it's impressive." Hmm.

Bit unfair to stick the Espero up, it was based on the GM J platform but I think you'd struggle to exchange pretty much anything bar the mechanical parts between a Cavalier. Plus they're ACE.

Here's some stuff.

Kia Capital - Mazda 323/Familia

And this little number:

.....and Kia Pride!

Took ages to find a whitewall Pride.

They should bring it back, I bet the biddy squad would hot-foot it down to the dealer if they re-introduced the Pride.

There's even a saloon version aimed at that demographic, and taxi drivers with short passengers.

The fuel tank in the Espero is almost exactly the same as the Cav's, but with just enough different lumps and bumps as to make them unswappable  and Espero tanks rust badly for some reason

.I understand Mazda had doubts over the re-badged Fiestas ruining thier reliabilty/quality image but I don't think it turned out too badly......And, in the long run, the folks in Swindon are probably glad that Honda set up their small operation there to remedy the quality problems of Honda badged Rovers before releasing them to the public and destroying their reputation.
