I need to stick several bits back onto my Rocco. What adhesive actually works and which should be avoided? I dont want it to moult as i drive down the M1. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Araldite. Careful though, I once managed to glue my fingers to the bodywork whilst trying to reattach an errant rubbing-strip.

No more nails has quite a following with Rover 800 owners. Not sure whether they are refering to the actual car or the adhesive used though

There's a proper product used by bodyshops which is produced by 3M, can't remember what it's called though.

Sikaflex , Sticks anything to anything , fab stuff

Tiger Seal. Available from your local motor factors. ;)It's an adhesive that sets like hard rubber.

Ta for the help. Will pick something up tomorrow. No more nails will be sold everywhere so will probably be a good bet. With any of these though, will i then be able to remove the trim again without ruining the surrounding paint? I.e not using thinners? Whilst i am looking at getting something else soon and selling the car, i change my mind so often i could as easily end up with it for another 3 yrs and might need to get it off again.

What kind of bits are we talking?

No more nails is shite as a trim adheisve internal or external!!As posted above either sikaflex or tiger seal are the ones to go for, and are what most 'body shops' use

Its the thin rubber stripe down the side and the rubber bottom bit (about 2 inches by 2 feet) on the doors. Its either come off totally or has come away a bit on both sides. Really needs tidying up.Car looks a sorry state outside at the mo with a flat tyre, and to make matters worse when the snow plough came down the road it just piled up the snow around the car so that the entire road was clear except for the snowed in scabby Scirocco. :( It needs a bit of lovin'.

For the bits that are just peeling, I'd recommend taking them entirely off and keeping them somewhere warm to straighten them out. Then take off any old adhesive and start from scratch.I had the same deal with some VAG rubber strips on my Audi, I assume they're much the same material. They'd been peeling for so long they just preferred to be curved so nothing would stick them flat. I put the end in boiling water, then kept it between two bricks for a few hours. Was much flatter then, so I used the thick spongy tape they sell in motor factors for putting numberplates on, as it was much the same stuff as it was already on with.

Don't use any of that branded shite that's advertised to be some wonderglue. It doesn't work.I once took the top off some of that proper glue and put it in my mouth. I tasted glue in there, and then realised the top was glued to my lips.

I agree with Pillock, side mouldings are usually stuck on with double-sided tape, the proper automotive stuff thats like a VERY sticky double sided foam like used on number plates, last roll I bought was nearly a fiver, I think using anything else like Sikaflex/ No More Nails for this job will be wank.

Mine have done the same and need straightening a bit so will take this on board. Will probably use the tape on the stripes and some sort of glue on the big bit? Will give it a go anyhow. Cant look worse than it does already (hopefully).
