Anyone got any leads to a cheap one  Currently looking out on ebay and PH etc but thought I would put my feelers out on here just in case.If you spot/know about one for sale let me know, ta!

I said CHEAP VW powered  And the steering wheel is on the wrong side....Looking to spend £3k max and I'm expecting to get my fingers dirty for that money!

I profess you have no hope!! They are making unbelievably strong money at present, the only way you'll get your hands dirty for a 3K one is to dig up a cubed write off and get cracking on the english wheel and welder!!!!

As Mike said they do make very strong money, Especially after Ashes to Ashes.

This one finished without selling on ebay recently so might be worth a email asking if they will do a deal.

It's had a dodgy respray, still white under the bonnet and that was £3750 BIN, Not that great really.

This one looks much better but is over budget and has a strange patch on the wing.

Failing that ...

What are these like ?

Dad wants one, and i'm hoping the one i scoped out not too far away is for sale so we can forfill Padré's dreams of owning yet another Audi

I dont really like the styling of them that well, prefer the bigger audi's like the 200 (Of which my dad has owned)

But bodywork is generally good i believe as they are galvanised and have a 10year guarantee :)

I hear what your saying and I know I'm going to get an entry level crapper for £3k but I just want to tick the box

There is stuff available for around the £3k mark. This one looks reasonable and it's fairly local:

Plan B is the S2 as I have always fancied one of those as well.

Hi HertzI might be able to help, I know of at least 1 maybe 2 "parked up on a drive, slowly rotting" numbers within a 3 mile radius of where I live in Surrey.I'll be honest, it's a good 18 months since I saw the one that I know is a Turbo, so I can't guarantee it's still there, but i'll check, and the other one i'm not 100% it's a Turbo, but it's in with a lot of other collectable Shite on a local hidden driveway. I'll have to wait until the White stuff is gone, and i'll try to get some pics.CheersPaul

Seriously, if you pull this one off and bag one for £3000, and it doesn't prove to be a knackered heap o' wotsit, I will doff my cap to you. Does seem that the boat has been missed for value quattros. The later shape could be a good bet though. It's a fine looking car.

You'd be opening a can of massive worms at that price, believe me. These can rot seriously and I've seen them needing extensive welding at that level. Sills rot and are unavailable although I know where to get them, made for an enthusiast. 250 quid a side though. Bottoms of B pillars rot out, windscreen sorrounds rot out for fun. The parts situation is pretty poor on these generally. Everything makes top coin; even something like an aerial can make over 100 quid, a decent rear light is 70 quid plus... Interior trim is scarce.

You didn't watch wheeler dealers by any chance the other night did you?.

 Erm well got it on sky+ recorded actually  Always fancied one since I got a matchbox one in 1981 for my 5th Birthday (it sat proudly on top of my cake in it's rally colours).I have to have one albeit on a autoshite budget. I could sell my Alpine A610 and get a "goodun" but I love it too much to sell it. A project shared with a mate will have to do for now.He can sort the mechanicals and I'll buy the car and the parts, now where have I heard that before....

I had an S2 (J123 UTW) in navy but otherwise like that silver one ^It looked smart, but was my financial ruin, partly because it was cruelly unreliable. From experience, re-con PAS pumps are available if you're consideing that UR on Pis'heads!

You might be in luck...

This has just been posted on ebay, Needs TLC, still at £100 but could be cheap?.

Thats a Coupe Quattro rather than a UR Quattro. Not as desirable, but a much better bet as something to use daily. Still a pain to get hold of bits mind.
