ha

when you decide just to take a look at your heater resistor to see what it looks like and check for wiring damage

wiring is fine, you have your phone on with the ebay page for a resistor open that you are sure is the correct one, cos you know it seems the common one

haha

cos french

what in the fuck kinda resistor is this? never seen aything like it before, certainly not what i've seen on other C5s etc

of course, i can't find it for sale anywhere

great

I've been trying to find my photo's of my C5's modules.  The '52 and the '03 sere both the same.  Replaced in both cars.  They were not like yours but I have seen similar ones used in different Citroens.

i've decided i'm going to rewire that whole section with higher quality cable at some point soon

Those who have done this have found that it is better to solder in an extra few inches of wire to improve flexibility and reduce strain on the loom.

Same for the doors.

oh if they break in the doors, now that would be extremely good fun to sort

They will, eventually.

I was lucky with both tailgate and the doors.

I say lucky:-

i assume the dents etc put pressure on the glass and caused it to smash?

Not quite.  My son parked it outside his house on a steep slope.

The handbrake wasn't pulled on tight enough and it was in neutral.

Ten minutes later it rolled back into the house.  Fortunately just missed the huge sitting room window - size of a shop window.

don't like the handbrakes on these much......

iffy things at best, mine is well, poor

relatively flat where i live and i have more faith in the gearboxes parking pawl than i do at all in the handbrake so i rarely use it

popped down to northallerton today in the C5

was beautiful, really is driving superb at the moment

anyway, had to do a fair few overtakes and a few moments of heavy throttle

gearbox is spot on, 1 shift was a bit notchy but otherwise all silky smooth

also since a simple oil and filter change the engine seems so much more quieter and if anything my displayed MPG seems a lot better

averaging according to the car around 42mpg, this is around right according to my calculations so i'm happy

had an awful lot of compliments since owning this car which susprises me

had one from a neighbour today and got talking about C5s

ended up having a go of their 64 plate X7 exlclusive C5

okay yeah

that's a lovely lovely thing

just a bit scary with common issues

my god is it comfy!

I have just done a purchase of a random apparently refurbished starter motor off ebay

it was cheap, as in £30 cheap

so lets see if it sets my car on fire

or causes an electrical meltdown, locks me in and catches fire which would be extremely entertaining

did some fettling today

replacing the starter motor

forgot to take a lot of pics cos idiot

anyway, simple as fuck to get to, remove intercooler pipe and air box and it's right in front of you

3 allen key bots, cos of course

and there we go, lifts right out

228980459_1141943196293719_5423632482790197745_n.thumb.jpg.218be50b911a95ba7991964947e53344.jpg

for reference, this is a picture of the new one from last night

it's shiny

233112718_542254983565543_700729228858351865_n.thumb.jpg.c4982ee42a199dc8e5866a0e32bf4e7c.jpg

and here is the old one, after i removed it

not shiny

felt alright though

228102702_4152787291471773_7841009514280575257_n.thumb.jpg.836bea72ed41f90423c17fa8aaa3f34a.jpg

anyway installed the new one, and again forgot to take pics cos it was going too well and didn't want to jinx it

you can see it here, the shiny metal

this was an increadibly easy job

229119223_179229047606261_3103320212308792654_n.jpg.6a069432040dc693e21aef8113140686.jpg

put all the pipework and everything back

hooked the battery back up, waited the minute or so for the car to boot up

wow

cranks like a petrol! mega fast, and quieter too

shall made a video in a bit

so time for an autopsy

looked alright inside, gears worked and bearings felt smooth

but i found the issue i believe

It's not a terrible job. Wouldn't remove it all the way, just enough to shift the light out.

and i was like, oh it's a PrEhEaT iSsUe

i think it was because i refused to believe a starter could cause all those issues

and i was checking fuel lines and all sorts

£40 later and it's like a new car

gambles can pay off, i was skeptical but i am just so happy with how it is at the moment

Had the same thing with my starter, new one fixed it and like yours now, started on the button.

Removing the bumper is easy but time consuming.

And as said, you don't need to remove it completely.

Very unlikely to find any rust, mine was like new.
