Mystery Miniature shite

I bought another handful of small scale cars today to go with the other 3000 or so I've already got but one of them I just can't identify. it's go nothing on the base and I've no idea who the manufacturer is (some annonymous Chinese company) but it's defo based on a real car as the other two I got with it are. At first i thought Audi but I don't think it is. Anyone recognise it? Bear in mind that the grille will be altered a tiny bit from the real thing to get round licencing issues but judging by the other cars from the same manufacturer I got, it will only be slight and the general shape will be correct. Oh, and the casting is a bit rough across the front of the bonnet too so bear that in mind too! So come on then... what is it?

Here's the other two that came with it... an Audi Q7 and a funky Toyota FJ Cruiser...

chevrolet epica?

very close from the back but the fuel filler is on the wrong side and round, the side body moulding is different and the front is different too. The model had quite a pronounced surround about the grille area. It's not until you try identifying something like this that you realise just how similar a lot of cars are!

I can't help on the identification, but seeing those FJ's in the flesh when in Canada, I think they are smart looking things.

I'm not sure but seems to be running on Momo Arrows!

It looks like something BYD makes, but Im really not sure.......

This is a complete guess but could it be a Vauxhall Monaro??

no,2 many doors!

There is a 4-door Monaro too doncha know... Actually, it looks more Insignia than Monaro come to think of it but I'm sorta going with the Mazda 6 idea. Why do these really cheap ones never have the names underneath them :x ?

I was thinking Insignia as well but i can also see a lot of the latest shape Volkswagen Passat in the front as well.Or is it that all new cars just look the same now?!

Tayne said that first

Damn the rear was almost spot on with the BYD G3 as well.

I agree with the Insignia thing - maybe they modified it slightly to avoid copyright or something.

Or maybe ubershit American 'NEW FOR 2010" rebranding/sticking two fingers up at the people who bailed them out like the Saturn Aura or Mercury Milan:

I say we have a winner!

After some more hunting it is indeed a Camry but not the one pictured above. Check out this Chinese built Camry. Even the washer jets are in the right place...

Most of the Chinese made small scale stuff isn't labelled, as toy car manufacturers actually have to pay the real car companies royalties otherwise for use of their brand name. Kind of ridiculous really. You'd think that car manufacturers would realise that toys give them free advertising! I'm kind of glad that many companies avoid the royalties as half the cars that get made as miniatures would never get done otherwise. It's suprising what cars get made by the 'non-branded' toy car makers. Found this Alfa Romeo 159 sportwagen the other day...
