I recall years ago on Casualty there were very often features of Shite as a character's car. There seemed to be a large number of GSA and BX Mk1s in the 90s I recall a drug dealer in a GS in one 90s episode. And on Eastenders quite a lot of old Sierras and Astras including a Cavalier that crashed off a canal and flipped revealing the removed engine and 'box

Hey wasnt there a Hillman Imp on the Casualty opening credits for some years which was owned by someone who was (or maybe still is) a contributor to a classic car mag? I recall reading it around '02.....

Dunno as I was a teen back when the 90s shows were on and STOPPED watching soaps about 1998!

I miss the old opening sequence to the 'Bill' with the Rover SD1 complete with old skool blues.

Here it's with the later shitter one for comparison too

Bit of Cavalier saloon action in there too - with a younger 'Tosh' was it?

On the occasions I used to watch Casualty, you could always tell who was going to be injured/maimed/killed cos they were driving an old heap.

So true! And on ANY ITC 60s-70s production if it was a white Mk2 Jag you KNEW it was going to fly off a cliff at some point!

Seem to recall a character called Ash or something like that in casualty circa 1996 having a triumph herald convertible which was always breaking down but could be fixed in 3 seconds flat by said character opening the bonnett and wiggling a wire or two without even getting his fingernails dirty

Oh, I fuggin love the plot build-up in the old Casualties. Interior shot of a Ford Cargo, driver is fumbling for a fag packet that he's dropped on the floor.Swaps to a shot of a woman crossing the road with fifteen children in tow.Back to the lorry, and a close-up of the load in the back - leaky drums with hazard labels on the side. One of the kids stops to stroke a cat in the middle of the roadDriver bends down to pick up the fag packet, taking his eyes off the road....OMG what's going to happen next????!?!

Casualty used to be excellent in the days when the casualties were members of the public and not hospital staff. The build-up to an accident was much more intricate than Pillock described, by the time tragedy struck you knew quite a bit about the characters. I'm sure I wasn't the only person to play the game of trying to guess who was going to get hurt and how. There was a certain war film aspect to it- got a trial with Holby United next week have you? Let's see how you manage it with one leg. I still hear the Casualty theme in my head when I see somebody doing something comically dangerous.

I absolutely bloody love Casualty  I think there are a couple of characters driving shite currently - Mk1 Escort and Herald / Vitesse that I can think of.Of stuff they've 'killed' - in the last few months - Jag XK8, Beetle, Ford Cargo (actually could have been a Leyland Daf 7.5t truck) and the other week some mid '80's coach which fell off a cliff.

Totally agree, you can imagine how many questions I asked when they used our Mk1 ambulance for Holby......

Why would they want a mk1 Transit ambulance? I thought it was set in the present day?

yes it is set in the present day, it was supposed to be 'hired' from a collector for a fundraiser.

...which is almost true!!!

I like playing guess teh ailment and treatment and then yelling at the telly and getting quite annoyed when they hod xrays back to front or do stuff that is plain wrong.RSI? You want Suxamthasone for that not Propofol you muppets.
