Shite mind thinking - Lockdown Logistics

As of today, the Bucketeer AX has got a brand new shiny MOT.  All down to Northern Monkey (who did the work and then some) and a secret cabal of shiters (who lobbed money into the pot). It brings forth a conundrum

  1. Currently in Accrington we have an AX, MOT, but no insurance or tax that belongs to Bucketeer residing in surrey way.
  2. At Bucket Towers there is an MX5 with not MOT, no tax and no insurance, plus a broken front spring belonging to Northern Monkey.

Ideally these need to change places with the minimum of cash outlay as neither are collectors examples.

Pre Covid the idea was to hire a trailer and tow AX down south with the saab and swap with MX5.  This would cost trailer hire plus fuel plus a day of time.

It is still the initial plan but looking at the numbers round here, it is likely that post lockdown, we are still going to be in some form of restricted travel which will mean that it is likely to be a while off whether it can be actioned.

So I would thought I would pick the hive/shite mind to think of any other way to swap cars cheaply/legally?

Fill in the V5s on both to swap all the details over (VIN, engine number, make, model etc.) , then post the registration plates to each other.  Problem solved*

Literally no-one is not travelling though are they so I would just crack on.

If you want a cover story knock up some business cards in the name of "Moog Motors" , claim you are collecting for your business.

I've just been to Oldham to collect an essential carpet and can assure you the motorways are plenty busy and the checkpoints are none.

I was about to say, it seems pretty normal round here. I can’t imagine how they’d stop and check anyone (for much of the journey anyway- it could be different where you’re going or coming  from of course.)

i would say day insure the ax and send it dahn - DD the tax then cancel when arrived at wherever

the do the same to the '5 and pre book an mot at monkey towers

wait till the 3rd...............

but that depends on what they do actually say cos you know what the gubbermint are like 🙄

would be cheaper than trailering stuff about
