tooSavvy
Hmm..... NOT unrelenting gloom 🤔 My 'local' garage [round the corner] is booked out for two weeks (... yes, popular!) he has, of course, an overflow M8 [perhaps at a %..] who can do it Wed 👍 = £80 Inc Bearing. He is 50yds along the road and no more a brisk trot from my house. Opens up @7AM... I will empty the car of all valuables... 🤐 🚙💨 AnnoyingPentium and privatewire

tooSavvy
As I had the BACK up.... I whipped round and put the FRONT up! 👌 I think my 'dogbone' has signs of distress... This is my Autobox Mount [N.L.A.] ...... Some measuring up and bound to be a 'same size/equiv' in the World 🤔 🚙💨 Jim Bell and Dave_Q
tooSavvy
Incidentally, as I was lying on my back >> but not where I am for oil changes >> I spotted the drain plug in the Auto box bottom tray. Not all autos have this and it makes the 'drain/refill three times' *slosh out/rinse much simpler.... *Though, with oil cooler tranny rubber pipes it's even easier to chop and drain whilst in tickover ✔️ 🚙💨 Jim Bell and 500tops
tooSavvy
GOOD news/BAD news..... 😵 Good = not front brg! Bad = rear n/s >> but his stockist needs to order 'overnight' 😕 ..... Collected car [5 minute walk] & return 8am tomozz.... Rears are DIY friendly... but not today, thanks... 🚙💨
tooSavvy
FFINN ELLL...... 😱 The bearings that came out were 'generic' unshielded = Rusty AS FC#K!! SKF 'double sealed' have gone in [I have the box!] vkba 3717. Other side is good/silent.... tooSavvy
Planning on doing the DogBone when it's a bit warmer/drier weather ✔️🔨 The photos show no 'barnacle bill' rusting on the bolts BUT I'm going to go for penetration.. 😮 *And 'good for bikes....' All WIN 😎🚴
tooSavvy
I have finished 'cooking off' my gel-filled Dogbone.... A couple of hours on a warm radiator 👍. This gunge has the spongey consistency of plimsol shoe sole = likely good enough 😎 Jim Bell and Matty
tooSavvy
Likely I will do an oil change when doing this Dogbone.... OIL 😵 .... Is there a war on? Now I have a 'spare dogbone' we can assess Mkll design. Same, but a SMIDGE more compliance 🍅.... 🤔 *I could drill holes in the new one, to experiment.... tooSavvy
Ver 2 of my 'dog bone' gel filled. I have placed a slice of hi density 'cabinet doorseal' foam onto the centre knuckle... We will see if a 'smidge of give' will remove the harsh vibration when stopped/ingear. The piccy shows where it is [entombed in the gel]..... 🚙💨 Jim Bell
