Shortened version: From what I can see by scanning it for 3 seconds is - numpty snaps off locking nut key, can't get wheel off, then cuts wheel up with a bloody great saw to get it off. Sounds just like VW's fault that....

We had to do that many moons ago with a Mark 1 Granada with the alloys on. All the wheelnuts were off, and we had heated the wheel to the point where the tyre was starting to bubble, and there was liquid grease running out the back.We even tried jacking the car up to a great height and DROPPING it. No dice. Wheel carved up with grinder, new front corner on the car. What a bastard.

How weird - I have chisleled off a locking wheel nut before in the past, and driven a car with a siezed / rusted on wheel with teh nuts lose and swerving wildly to try and get it off. Never had that much of a problem though. Not so extreme.Moral of the story - get the wheels off every couple of months and spear the back in vaseline. I love vaseline me.

What a grade A mong. What was he using a tap for? I can't see how a tap would be of any benefit at all. I'd just drill down the center with a small bit then go up sizes until the head is drilled off. Easy. Once the wheel is off it's usually easy to get the last but out of the hub.

Remove the other four wheel bolts and drive the car around in circles until you hear/feel the wheel coming loose.

If he broke a "tap =titanium", I really, really doubt it wasn't titanium!!!!

I had a stuck, stripped bolt on the MGF, I got it off in a couple of hours, you can always shift things like that - what an idiot. I even had this yesterday.

Excellent comedy value. Total numpty. That said, I did once cut a door off a car because the door wouldn't open. But there is difference between an £80 shitter and a nearly new golf with nice wheels attacked with a Stihl.

Oh hell, aye.I once completely wrecked some perfect rear quarters on a Cav Mk2 saloon I was breaking to get the boot hinges off for someone.
