Hi All,

Got a bit of a dilemma at the moment, I am currently driving around in a 1995 c200 elegance w202, she has done 60k miles and is pretty much mint all round.

However I have a few things bugging me and im getting itchy to replace her

1) no leather

2) 2.0 auto is a bit sloooow. whats the point of the rwd if i cant wheel spin or anything.

3) doesnt feel very top spec, no electric seats, no cruise control, climate control.. i thought the elegance was supposed to be a good trim model?

so i wanted to ask you sages this:

is there any point in selling a car this time of year, or is everybody in christmas mode? how much is it actually worth (10 months t+t at the mo)?

what do i get to replace it? something powerful in a rwd manual would be nice?

do i have a bad case of 'the grass is always greener syndrome'?

here is a pic of her

Yes - why not source a second had leather interior, its isnt too hard to lash up some electrics if heated / motorised seats be your bag and its bound to be cheaper than selling / buying another one. Better the devil you know and all that.

Beat me to it FT.As said, raid a speeced-up one at a breaker. Those are good cars, I'd be inclined to hang on to it.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more! Surely the interior would be cheaper than buying a whole new car. Nothings selling at the moment, if I won the lottery i would absolutely clean up!

agree with that fred, on the downside a lottery win would mean a field full of real autoshite...i've placed my ticket this week, my tatfield awaits

You could always try swapping it for something else, advertise here, RR and other places?Merc leathers can fetch stupid money second hand but if you keep looking on eBay etc you might score some cheap enough.MB Tex interiors (leather lookalike for want of a better description) are hard wearing and some had heated seats, at least some 190Es did because I have heated MB Tex in mine.

Thanks, I dont even know how much it is worth? all the others i see for sale have done 150k miles +

I'd have thought about a grand on a good day, realistically probably about £825 for a fairly quick sale but you might get more of course as the mileage is right.

Oddly enough I've just found someone breaking one who says it has leather so I've mailed him.

Meanwhile if you're prepared to be bombarded with 'txt spkn wnkrs' and countless dick splashes offering you £150 heaps of shit then: www.swapz.co.uk is worth joining.

If you want leather and you have some space, I'd look out for a leather equiped one with a kippered engine or ecu or something.Should be nice and cheap, plus you get all the looms (although I wouldn't be supprised if your car already has them) and you get to weigh it in when you have finished.WIN!

or buy a cheap wreaked merc and poach all the bits your's need, not the same but i flogged a well tidy 300E for afew hundred notes, with leather etc, sport box, so hunt and you'll find it..

Decent enough cars Station but nothing fancy and they do like to rust.I'd have one over a Beemer anyday but that's because I'm not a BMW fan!

Not sure if these were popular in the UK but how about some nice sheepskin seat covers? They seemed to be a popular accessory in Mercs here for about 10 years. Would take care of your lack of seat heaters problem too.I get your point though -- it just feels like bog spec for a Benz. For whatever it's worth, it looks sharp. When the time comes to replace it (which is either this spring, when shoppers are shopping again, or when you have 200,000 miles on it) maybe a Rover SD1 would make for fun? V8 and RWD baby.

Hmmmmm. Always fancied one of these and I have an R plate A4 Avant with leather and climate with 83k on it

If its bugging you, simply get rid and get what you want ;)Otherwise accept it for what it is... Sounds quite a good motor, actually.

Is it a six pot?Personally id upgrade to a c280 sport or something. But then these do rot nastily so if its clean maybe hang on to it if you like it?How about an S600? that'l have all the toys you need :)

2.0 is a 4 pot.I'm quite tempted by the 5 pot diesel C250s, but I'm put off by their allegedly dodgy build quality
