Hi guys, as a début I'd like to offer this one, culled from the Beeb. The Millionth Minor up for auction this afternoon.

The one millionth Morris Minor to roll off the production line 50 years ago is going under the hammer in Somerset. The car, which was made in 1960, is expected to fetch about £30,000 when it goes up for auction in Shepton Mallet from 1530 GMT.

I remember seeing at least one Minor 100000 in Whitby, where I lived in the sixties. My dad had a minor from around that time in the same porridge colour - 4567 UP. He was offered a lot more than the car was worth at the time for the number plate but wouldn't part.

Welcome :D It always intrigued me who actually came up with that colour for the Millions and more to the point who in BMC then signed it off!:lol: Is it worth that kind of money? Would the French pay that for the millionth Peugeot 504 I wonder?

I have a nice model of a Minor 1000000 in my dining room with opening door and everything, Wonder if my model is worth £30k?.

I saw that on the BBC website today and I did wonder whether it was the actual millionth car or just one of the special edition models.

It will be worth £30k divided by the scale it's made to.

 Blimey. It'll be 1/18 scale which means each model must be worth nearly £2k on that basis. And to think we've been selling them for £15.99 :D I think i've missed out a bit then

Crikey. Didn't sell. Market doesn't think it's worth £30k then.

Apparently not despite the recent hype in the press, even though it's a special edition, it's still a Morris Minor, and you don't have to spend a fortune to buy a good one.

Mr Whitney, from Charterhouse Auctioneers, said that he was disappointed that the car had failed to sell despite a lot of national coverage. He said: "It just didn't do it on the day."

That's because it's a lilac Morris Minor.

No, thats because he wanted 25K for a Moggie 1000 - some things are worth that much but an old Moggie aint one of them...

I've just noticed your username, are you Myglaren from French Car Forum?

Yep, use it everywhere other than one forum. :D

It doesn't actually say it is the millionth minor, just one of the 350 minor million special editions. On saying that, the millionth is on the road (or at least taxed):The enquiry is completeThe vehicle details for 1 MHU are:Date of Liability 01 01 2010Date of First Registration 01 06 1961Year of Manufacture 1961Cylinder Capacity (cc) 948CCCO2 Emissions Not AvailableFuel Type PetrolExport Marker Not ApplicableVehicle Status Licence Not DueVehicle Colour REDVehicle Type Approval It says it's red, which I am a little confused about as it was restored about 6 years ago. It was red when they found it in a ditch, but it was restored to the correct lilac colour.

Yup, it really is the millionth Minor. Not apparent in that link.

In that case, it is a pretty important piece of British motoring history. I hope a museum eventually ends up with it...
