OK all. £8200 trade disposal. Lot of car for the cash, bags of room and pretty quick. This car has never been washed properly and smells of farts inside. The alloys need a damn good fettle too. The pockets on the back of the front seats have been ripped by the headrests on the back seats when they were folded down at some stage. £20 and a bottle of Bushmills to my local motorcycle seat upholsterer.Careless trade owners FTW!A friend of mine is an Avon (cosmetics not tyres) rep and she says she has the stuff to get rid of the stink. And I don't fancy her at all. Really.Crowning glory today was a local kid walking past on the way home from school who saw me geting in to the car:"Hey Mister - are you a hitman?"

Definite future in shitedom. Love it.Have driven the 2.5 and 3.0 auto models. Noisy for what they are but not bad. Really. I swear. Not too bad. Unfortunately both were AWD models, and drove like they had an extra turd in the suspension.

I'll sell you it for 10 grand GBP. Just think, no drivetrain shunt and a steering wheel on the correct side! Take it back with you to NY. Sorted!PS If you ever see that Stella Bonasera, send her over to me please? :D

Ok so the working trade proposal is a Jag X-Type 2.2 diesel estate for the actress from CSI New York, plus 10 grand GBP (about $400,000 USD then). I think if you throw in Lucy Davis from the Office we can make a deal.

Posted

As Noel Edmonds would say "Deal!"Do you accept Western Union? BTW, my bank is in Nigeria

Posted

Just had a look at Lucy Davis. Mate, if we deal, I owe you $750, 000

That is dead nice! These X-type wagons are really pushing my buttons, I reckon that one of these will be the next pog family chugga. They have everything I want (toys, comfort, bit of posh) with everything she wants (economical, fwd, easy to live with) in one smallish wagon package.Wondering how a 14000 mile car can be in such poor condition though! Even our daily use chariots that get filled with dogs, bikes, kids, work kit etc don't get into that kind of state.

Nice enough looking car but can't help thinking the clocks look out of place somehow.Still, you couldn't turn it down at that price and looks a nice car as said.

Blimey. That's got to be the second-fastest depreciator in the class - after the Cadillac BLS, of course. Even my Saab 9-3 was worth more when I handed it back to my employers after 11 months and 25k miles. In spotless condition, I hasten to add.

Nice deal, I like these too. As Pogweasal mentioned these look like a good prospect for a family wagon.Am I right in thinking it took Jaguar an age to come with with the Estate and the diesel version?

Posted

No it took Ford an age. Jaguar do as they're told nowadays. :? Boss at work has a saloon 2.5. Nice, pokey etc. Mondeo Ghia-X-Type jokes never wear thin though.

Had a couple of X-types about three years ago, but never the estate.First one was a JRG well specced SE 2.0 V6 Auto - The autoshite X-type. That 2.0 V6 is useless, and it only averaged about 18 mpg in town. Not a good choice as the 3.0 does about 21 with me at the wheel.Second was a dark blue 6000 milw 2.0d manual. Would have been nice if it was auto, but they're not very good when shackled to a 5 sp manual. That estate looks nice enough. I'd roll it!

They used to piss me off no end when I was running the X-types. Try getting Mondeo parts to fit the X-type and you'll realise there's not much in common at all. It's less accurate than walking up to someone with an Audi TT and saying "Nice Fabia".

I had a good look at an X type this year when I was thinking about spending a few grand on a something nice. I remember feeling profoundly depressed about the whole car. It seemed cheap when I read the advert, but having sat in the thing it suddenly looked expensive. When I was a lad Jaguars had class, this had less class than the Ford it's built around.I'm sure my £800 406 drives better as well.
