My headlights pop up when I put the side lights on. Is that normal?

I tried the resistor for flash to pass and couldn't get that to work either.

Next to the air intake and diagnostic connector, there's a big (sort of two fag packets size) metal box with vents on it, unplug that and they won't do it anymore

I'll have the chin spoiler. When is it available?

Nip round on Saturday afternoon if you want it fitted or I could drop it off with the exhaust on Friday after work, around half three ish?

Hopefully some essential exo parts will have arrived by the weekend and I can make a bit of progress

What is that box thing?

I'll call Saturday if you like. It'll give me an excuse to get out.

I've ran an insurance quote for one of these at somepoint, as I had an email from one of the comparison sites last night with quotes for my "upcoming renewal" ?

Anyway, I had quotes for £146 and £174 ! Bloody want one now

I usually paid around £100 on a classic policy. I pay less to insure my Fiat!

May I ask which insurers you are using?

I'm usually 3/400 ish for whatever "modernish" car I'm driving, the C70 I'm driving the now was £570-something which was a bit sore. Annoyingly couldn't get it on a classic policy

I got my '02 c70 t-5 insured as a classic. Limited 5k miles iirc.

I had my 97 SLK insured with Footman James, they didn't want to know about a 97 C70 ?

Might have a shop around, I didn't really have time when I bought it so just added it to my Saab policy

“dim dip” device - brings headlights on dimly with the sidelights, presumably in case there’s a blown sidelight bulb, was a requirement in the early nineties - just unplug it and chuck it away

I disconncted that heat soak thing and it stopped the main beam coming on at half bat. The headlights still pop up unlit though.

In other news I got a real life 35ish mpg from my last tank full.

31 litres gave me 210 miles.

I followed teo lotus europas/excel on the way to Hexham this morning. I wonder if there's a show on somewhere.

This flakey paint around the boot has been letting the side down. Time to put my super bodywork #skillz to the test.

Vactaned, 2 primer, 2 colour and 2 laquer. Loads better imo.

I've a bit over spray on the boot rubber. What's best for getting that off?

I've always thought the alloys were gun metal grey. They were also thick of brake dust which wouldn't shift when washing them. I'd thought about getting them powder coated.

I bought a full new supagard kit for £3 from Hexham car boot on Sunday morning and thought I'd try sprucing them.

They've come up really well and are actually silver matching the rest of the car.

Recieved the split bax box from @gm today. This 90 year old man from a back street garage in Shields is welding it now for a tenner.

He was busy fabricating a k11 pick up when I called in.

He used his air hammer to split it for me as well.

Just need someone to fit it now.

Bring it round tomorrow and you can roll it up on the ramps if you fancy having a go yourself ?

Do you have exhaust hangers ?

the ones that came off it were knackered but you "might get away with reusing your old rubbers" :) !

I 've just been for a blat and it's 100% quieter and loads better. I can hear the engine again. It's lots quieter than it was on yours as well. Maybe the decat you had?

Anyway, it's full slip but still sticks out quite away. Was it like that on yours?

Over all I'm very pleased although it highlights thet drive train noise. I think I need a tranny. Can I have the one off your spare car?

I need some brasso for the tail pipe.

It did stick out a bit, but not too much. Can't believe how much difference a decay must have made, it was far from subtle on mine :)

glad you like it anyway, what are you doing with you old one ? if it's going for scrap, can you hang onto it incase I need to fettle something for the iva test ? I can hang it off the garage ceiling round here out of the way

Bollox, I put it next to the main road for the scrap man. It was riddled with holes on the silencer. Even the straight pipe bit was holey.

I'll walk the derg and see if it's still there.
