No wear at all on the cams. Very good considering it's done 140000 miles.c5f9ece242ae12975e2a754e9c144478.jpg

Did you use special silver paint on your cam cover?

I couldn't put it in the dishwasher anyway, she was still in bed.

I found some satin black to use as undercoat. I'll walk to wilcos and get some silver.

Sorry to endlessly post the same thing but this is fucking magnificent. Please sell it back to me when you’re done.

I'd be tempted to stick with black - silver will look dirty quicker

Too late. They didn't have any silver. Only this dark grey metallic.
Might be a good colour for your diff.

I like that, a trip to Wilkos this afternoon, I think. Are you going to 'colour in' the letters ?

Oil change. Looks pretty decent under there.26b6a7bb73fd0d6b6e216b4a8c92d6df.jpgd098321a05a04d81160b63ee42f1d61a.jpg

Rusty filter and filthy oil. The poor thing will be breathing a sigh of relief.

I dropped it back down as soon as I managed to loosen the plug. Rain has stopped play again. Remind me on there's no oil in it.

The paint on the rocker cover is taking ages to dry. Presumably the humidity today. It's had four or five coats. I'll leave it over night.

Pretty chuffed the way it's turned out.

Have you stuck a sheet of cling film on the top of the engine to keep the dirt out ?

Not sure it would fit, but there's definitely a market for the video if it will.

Nah. I've just put the bonnet down.

I'm enjoying this, apart from changing a window motor and fitting a cup holder I've done nothing to mine.

I'm just catching up the maintenance. It's a hobby. I've always had a car for tinkering with. I think the days of engine swaps and clutches are gone though.

That’s bold with all this heavy rain !
The alloy head won't rust man.

I hope those axle-stands weren't your birthday pressie from the dishwasher!

Now am I being thick here or is this the wrong gasket?

That does look like the wrong one :( the 1.8 has the cam sensor on the other side to the 1.6
