Ha, that's what happened to my grandad's Regal van apparently! One of the local characters used to tear about in a Mk2 Jag and one day the family were sat round eating their dinner and there was this almighty crack from outside. They rushed out to see the Regal standing there as if nothing was wrong but the whole of the other side was a right mess. Jag boy had swiped the side off it.

No parking there nowadays iirc - cafe(s) on the right with seats outside, with a 'great' view of the big shopping centre?

That's right Michiel. Town Docks Museum in the background there (which used to be the Dock Offices in the old days) is blotted out by Princes Quay shopping centre.Actually, pre-war in dead centre of that pic would have been William Wilberforce's monument where the little bridge is (a mini-version of Nelson's Column) but it was moved later just up the road when the dock beyond here was filled in.

Fantasic!, Thanks for posting, Love the two BMW 700's (I had to look that up!)

Posted Image

What is the car on the roadway to the left with the sporty stripes on the rear end?

Posted

A Simca Rallye II I think.

Posted Image

I bet not one car from that picture survived until now!

Love the cars, I also think I see a Suzuki GT380/550 on the right of that pic. I had one in very similar colours, as I recall it pulled like a 2 year old in a mens tug 'o' war!

Yeh, the estate car is a Taunus 12m p4, Ford's first FWD car (useless bonus fact)Those two BMW 700s are both coupe versions, which have got to be super-rare these days. styled by Michellotti dontcha know (useless bonus fact #2)That last picture of the Chrysler/Simcas is ace, thanks lukas!

Could the something be a yellow-ish dolomite? I dunno, I'm just getting a dolly sort of vibe from the teeny visible bit

also there's a white something behind the step bollard thing. It's obscured but has quite a distinctive black door mirror
