Rattly old engines, and they rot like fuck - tops of the wings were a favourite. Still a sub zero moteur though.

if its a rotbox i'll walk but generally in our region no salt is on the roads so more cars survive (more get sun damaged quicker than the attack of grot) no rust whatso ever on my 23 year ol' polo, so could be a lucky find

I had one for a while with BX seats, very comfy. Clutch never worked properly so I sort of learned to shift without it... vague gearshift too. It felt much more solid than I thought it would be. Now why did I sell it? Ah yeah, I got tired of cycling to the storage space on sundays (40 minutes), driving it home with no clutch, trying to fix things but always failing and then I'd have to bring it back again. I would like another though one day!

I like the old Simca's-be like a Horizon to drive at a guess.

for 500 euros it must be worth a look? if its not too rotten buy it! i bloody would! i'm pretty sure you'd become an autoshite hero if you started driving one of those...go on....do it.... even if you only keep it for a month or so i'm sure you'd make your money back?

Recommended - once you were in top gear on the motorway after a few curses it was amazing (to my standards), we once fit two Billy bookcases in it (well, with the hatch open) and did over 100 km to my inlaws - still comfy.

I always scan leboncoin for these and will get one at some point. 500 euros sounds like good value for that one!

I believe Michiel is near that status allready with his Izuzu

I signed up here with a Simca 1100, then the Florian... so what can I get after this one to further elevate my status?

..Something rare/obscure (obviously) that Mr. Bickle has never had (a little more difficult..)?We await the surprise, Michiel :)

stick with Izuzu, get a pre-facelift Bellet GT..... one of my all time favourite cars of which there are exactly zero in this country. you'd be a legend in my eyes at least...

Posted

It would have to be a GT- got a Bellett!( My Simca now shiny, on slots, awaiting cylinder head & starter motor...)

Hopefully moving under its own steam this weekend-weather permitting, but not far. Still awaiting waterpump & brake mastercylinder (plus loads more less 'necessary' stuff) thats prob sitting in some Sorting office someplace.

wowwow, hows it looking now? much different from when you collected it? i must say you have an absolutely heroic collection, especially the 411 (love any old datsun but especially those) and the barkas. i'd love to see some pics of the whole collection, PM me yeh?

Posted

VWP you should buy it, UK ebay it and say collection from DVLA offices Dover. What have you got to lose?

Posted

It looks a fair bit different-yeah. Not necessarily better.....The whole collection has never been together in one place- and taking pics of the group would cause me absolute nightmares . I'd also need a spare field and at least a month to sort it! Sorry.Pics of the Simca when it finally moves- delayed a little cos there now seems to be no damn coil in it-or provision for one that I can see.Seems to have been robbed for bits all the time its sat there -suprising amounts missing.But- it'll get there
