Such kindness. Touches my heart-really.W.V.M- You know I'm as far south as you can go without getting your feet wet?I cant ask that- its a huge journey..We've glanced over it- and decided its worth stripping the head off to see the damage. Rusty bores will decide it -one way or t'other.Should know this weekend- if the rain holds off..

If you manage to find one that's a bit closer I wouldn't mind collecting it within say 150 miles, my van could do with a run!

I love the livery, are you planning on keeping that? Interestingly I spotted one in Southampton very recently - looked to be in good working order and relatively rot free.

I was somewhat surprised to see this. To say the least.

That beige van does look HHHMMMMNNNNGGGGRRRRNURSEEEEEE 8) As regards 309s and tappetty tappets, I remember being stood outside my Dad's house sometime about 1990, when the landlady of the pub across the way, drove into the car park in a metallic maroony/red 309. My thought then was, that sounds just like my Mum's old Chrysler Alpine, the engine must have blown and they've replaced it with something to hand. Thanks to this thread I now know better. :lol:

Does look nice-doesnt it. Earlier&much tidier that mine-on slots. Think I've got a relevant set someplace too.OK-yanked the head this morning-going to give it a go.Waterways totally gummed-so thats it overheating issue -it'll def need a skim.Light rust on the bores- no pitting so a glazebust should sort it. Span it over by hand OK. Starters off -so that'll need attention..I've started to clean it and the signwriting is falling off! Looks like it went on over polish, some's sticking some not. Lots of photos & I'll redo- or perhaps an Autoshite side panel?.Anyway- thats it for the weekend-hot bath then out with my Mrs.OH-and thanks for the offer Gary-might yet take you upon that!

Late in as per the norm, but would a Visa Diesel engine and box slot in?

Nigel, I am absolutely enthralled that you've found one of these! I was absolutely gutted when this one was removed from a local driveway 2 or 3 years ago, presumably to be disposed of as the Viva it was with vanished at the same time too. I always had dreams of rescuing it, I used to take a detour on my way home from nights out in the small hours when no-one was around simply to stare at it...how sad was that!?!

I thought it was the last one left on these shores, I felt so guilty that I didn't intervene! But then Wuvvum found his one, Reallyloud has spotted one & now you have found one to bring back to the local shite scene. Happy days!! :D They are obviously still out there then...

The only thing that could possibly make it any better would be if it was the cube back high top VF2 version which seems to be even rarer! 8)

For reference, here was the even more rotten Viva;

Thanks for the continuing interest guys.Heads in for skimming, starter motor for overhaul.Bodywork scrubbed cleanish-remains of the signwriting gone-leaving it bare,currently -but it wont stay that way for long.Bought a set of slot mags -13inch (mine were 14's too big I think)of thiefbay for £36-hope to collect later this week.Despite appearances its solid-only welding needed is accident damage (its got plenty!)- its not rusted through anyplace.Its got a few interesting quirks - door handles will open ONCE every 20 mins! I think the mechanism is gummed-and takes that long to release back. Clearly a problem before it came off the road-since the passenger side was partially disconnected. I'll get in there -when I can.I've ''overdone it''- so need a few days away to recover, physically. Back to it next week.Reg-nice pics. Appreciated. Thorsten -thanks. I'm OK for now -but will doubtless need stuff soon.

I love the things myself and will see how NB's turns out. Sounds like quite a task ahead what with the vehicles layup and his health. Good luck :D

Great news that progress is being made and the Autoshite side panel is a top idea.
