Nice spots. I like the Yellow American Chevette.

This is the first time I've seen an R4 on an E-plate. Previously the latest I'd ever seen was a 'D'.

Posted

R4 looks LHD - I think the last RHD ones were built early '86?

Still fairly common.

.

I wouldnt say so around these parts. I drive a MK 4 XR3i and Van but rarely see other mk4s anymore - not seen another in 2010 yet.

dunno why but I love these old beasts!

Well Im not sure why there is alot round here, Ive probably seen 6 so far this year?

And heres another spotted this morning!

I see plenty of Mk3/4s about round here, not unusual enough for me to take photos of even, although someone round here as a 3dr estate, and i can't remember seeing another one of those for a while. rare?

Posted

I see no MK3s. Ive seen one in about 3 years! MK4s are still pretty popular cars in some parts, theres so many in the towns around me and I can imagine a fair few oldies still have them as well. I just like them.MK5s (prefacelift) are dwindling however.Well look at it this way, back in the mid eighties if you wanted the 3 door estate for its load carrying, the van was a better bet. And for families, 3 doors is useless on an estate. Id say its rare. My mum had two 3 door MK3 escorts.

saw a 3 door MK 4 estate a few months back in Chester. It was at a carboot sale and I commented on how rare it was to the girl who owned it. She said its bulletproof and just keeps on going!.I agree about the mk 5 pre facelifts being rarer - as rare as the mk 4s are around here, the mk 5s on a H, J and K reg are practically extinct - although my sisters elderly neighbour had one for years up until a couple of months ago until she crappaged schemed it against a new Ford Ka :(

Autosport show today, I know racing cars arent everyones cup of tea but there was some decent oldies there, and a few suprises.

Posted Image

This was spotless. The gap on the plate is the only flaw.

Posted Image

I havent ever seen one not at a show.

Posted Image

I know that people dont want members of the public damaging their car, but i bloody hate it when they obscure things with those barriers.

Posted Image

And again.....

Posted Image

It was well done, but if my car were to ever have such a shiny engine, id be scared to drive it.

Posted Image

Ascona, always liked the shape of these.

Posted Image

These are also lovely, 1.3 litres of powah.

Posted Image

This was the only MKII rally car there I liked.

Posted Image

The Chevette does make a pretty lovely/ugly rally car....

Posted Image

Im sure some of you know this 27 litre SD1 by PPC.

Posted Image

Some guy saw this and exclaimed 'WOW I DIDNT KNOW ANY OF THESE WERE STILL AROUND' Well if you liked cars youd know this....

Posted Image

No matter where I go, 205s are everywhere, this show proved no exception.....

Posted Image

I DO NOT like those blue wheels.

Posted Image

The actual car was obscured, so I decided to take a photo of what attracts people to it.... the name. (from a non driver POV)

It was for sale. £29,900

Posted Image

Anyone know the deal with this cars reg? It says off the road since 1991..... which I doubt.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Holy shit, these are gorgeous. Remind me of the Lamborghini Espada.

And to finish as I started:

Posted Image

Posted

i went to the autosport show at the NEC in 2003, great show, only confirmed ok by these great pics, awesome brammy777

Posted

Cracking pics, fancy the Falcon next to the Lotus Cortina behind the Bean Mini.... 8)

Posted

Ive had too much free time lately.

Posted Image

I cant remember seeing many of these, seems weird that Honda offered these in 3 different bodystyles.

Posted Image

A Nova in Hook? Better be careful! Wheels look alright actually.

Posted Image

What the! Unexpected! Winnerrrr

Posted Image

I dread to think how much this costs in Petrol.

Posted Image

Wow the first one for ages! And an early MKIV at that too.

Posted Image

Camera hates angle and sun.

Posted Image

Late Carlton.

Posted Image

How are these? Are they still pikey chariots?

Posted Image

I dont think this actually moves too often.

Posted Image

So much nicer than a Golf.

Posted Image

I think that is the latest reg plate Ive seen in that style.

Posted Image

Such a bizzare driveway, also included an Audi TT and an A3. WHY IS THIS THERE!

Posted Image

Didnt look loved.

I wont update for a while now, promise.....

There was an H reg Cortina parked in Black Dam on Saturday - ever seen that one, Brammy? I don't go round there that often so I don't know if it's a regular there or not. Also saw an N-reg MGB a few minutes later - best bit of shite spotting I've had in Basingstoke for ages!

I dont think Ive seen either, what colour was the MK2? Ive seen a white one near south ham but it zoomed past. My mate actually text me about that one on saturday! Whereabouts do you go in Basingstoke? Popley and South Ham are full of tat normally.......

I see every Friday lunchtime in the Hook Tesco carpark, where I see it has been pictured. Not sure what year it is, I'd say 1982-1985 given it lacks any real bodykit addenda - I'm pretty sure the Z28 was temporarily dropped in the late 80's anyway. This one is driven by a petite lady in her late '50s or early '60s! I've never heard it running but it really is very, very tidy, in a way that these 80's F-bodies generally aren't these days.

Goood spots indeed.....There are a couple of these rotting in a garden down the from me, along with an earlier Camaro. They are behind a Royston Vasey esque "hairdressers" in the village, been wanting to get some pics for ages.....perhaps an urbex style infiltraition is on the cards.

Cheers for the info R welfare, its funny how I took that picture at friday lunchtime too!I thought it looked really familiar, I have seen the owner driving it around before, and thought how bizzare it was. But kudos to her! It is super clean. Alot of stylish oldies round here.

I'd say they're far too old for most pikeys..

Diesel Visa FTMFW! I'd love one like that. Good Find!

The 'tina was either black or dark blue, I think - couldn't get a really good look as I was driving. I tend to stay mostly close to the town centre as I work there, so tat-spotting opportunities are rare. Nice to get out occasionally though.I don't know if you ever go to Fleet, but I've had a few good spots there - there's the beige Maxi which I've mentioned before I think, a yellow V-reg Datsun I've seen a couple of times, and this evening I saw a Rover SD1 for the first time in years!
Posted

Havent ever been to fleet for tat spotting..... its quite hard to get to from here! Wheres the Maxi? But thanks for the advice, Ill try and go there soon, as I have covered pretty much all of Basingstoke now. Well, I think I have.....its just that the less 'savoury' areas are a bit unsettling.Near the town centre? Eastdrops not bad for tat.

Posted

The Maxi's usually parked on a farm a short distance away from Elvetham Heath - if you're lucky you can sometimes see it driving about, though. The owners of that farm seem to be quite big fans of Leyland/Rover stuff, there's also a nice old Jag and a couple of modern-ish Rovers there at various points of the day.I will see if I can investigate Eastrop at some point!

Keef, this one is for you.

Cheers! :)

This is a new one to me as well.

Posted

Yes, again. I cant help it! Heres whats been round Basingstoke this week:

Posted Image

Long dead Transit, ex BT by the look of it. Note innards on the drive, clearly a lost cause.

Posted Image

Jago and unloved MGB, there was another 2 cars under covers, I reckon one was a Nova kitcar.

Posted Image

It may be 'only' a Transit, but these MKIII ones are getting rarer, and this one looked pretty good.

Posted Image

BAN WHEELIE BINS

Posted Image

Hasnt moved since 97.

Posted Image

Not entirely sure whats happened here, possibly stolen.....

Posted Image

Gorgeous Bluebird, havent seen an early one for a while.

Posted Image

I swear I see more Belmonts than the actual Astras now, what the hell.

Posted Image

Hasnt been on the road for 13 years!

Posted Image

I usually dont like these, but the wheels looked good.

Posted Image

I had to be proper sneaky with this one, two people in the car. Came out pretty well, I actually saw this pull in from a distance and immediatly went to get a picture.

Posted Image

OMG TERCEL. So chuffed with this! Such a chance spot as well.

Have another one of its rear:

Posted Image

Thats it til next time folks!

Posted

That Montego, has it really been unused for 13 years?!!! Shocking!! Looks OK from the pic!
