What kind of suspension do they have?

Torsion bar front - so that's easy. Coil rear. Less so.

Notable only really because it's identical to the 1.6 W-plate example I owned, even down to the MOT failure for knackered suspension bushes.  Looks like it's been subjected to the same shoddy maintenance and neglect mine displayed.  Sold mine for £1900 with 6 weeks MOT left back in about 2009 to a bloke who refused a test drive and bought it for his son's first car.  Lucky fella.  White 3drs seem to be quite unusual for some reason and the prices have come right down.  Wouldn't say no to another one.

I never found the 1.3 mk2 astra to be slow or in any way underpowered. 1.6 diesels are however unbelievably shit.

No you're doing it wrong, the first rule of non turbot Astravan is . Never back off.

I had a lovely 4 speed 1.6 mk2 Bedford that was kept in and around the family for 10 years, it more than kept up with the traffic and we even used it for towing a car trailer. The McRae mantra of 'If in doubt ,flat out!' Was made for dizzler Astras.

I had no idea there was a Dedra estate, for some reason this goes completely against my lack of interest in Lancias.  You'd certainly have the only one in the office car park.  Seems to have fairly hefty mileage on it but that might be KM's.

I find myself almost fancying that LDV!  I used to work at a place that was slowly replacing a fleet of these (panel and box, mixed) with TurboDailies, and it got to a stage where nobody would drive these... except me!  I practically made one of the box vans my company car for a couple of weeks!  I was the only person who displayed any kind of care for it.  (It was 7 years old at the time...)

I also really like that Talbot

I believe he had done a lot of welding work on it, though he did say not to restoration standard but that's okay...

I tried to swap him my polo breadvan for it but wasn't interested :-(

How long can you stare at that lot for without going cross-eyed? I pay £1/minute, be honest though and don't abuse the facility

It's quite easy and not particularly expensive to get new coil springs made to whatever specification/shape you require.

Yellow card for derskine.

Hey - I'm not the only one!

If I had bigger balls and bank balance I would be all over this like a cheap suit.
