Brillliant, you've lost the flipping door????

Yeah, fixing holes in roofs is always a 5-minute job.

My dad had one of those!

I can't remember the exact spec but it was red and had one of those cricket bat car phones and I do remember it spending a lot of time in the Lancia dealers in Durham having various problems rectified (mainly electrical, the old man informs me). However, it was tough enough to survive a sheep taking a swan dive right onto the bonnet while he was driving home through Yorkshire. Despite the front end being thoroughly stoved in and generally covered in blood and vomit it still got him home.

What a little trooper.

I used to have one, the alternator was about the only thing bolted to the engine I didn't change in 8 months or so it seemed.  5 cyl engine a big lump in that bay, alternator is well buried down the back and I've seen a couple for sale needing one.

I have heard that the JTD is not exactly the most reliable engine in the world.  Although being an Alfa I can't imagine the petrols are much more dependable.

A friend of mine at work had one of those 20v 156's. He was forever replacing its driveshafts, suspension atms and god knows what else.he reckoned the engine was far too powerful for the wanky drivetrain it was attached to.

Mine was a 10v, went very well, 40+ mpg at all times but too much torque for mounts, clutch, etc. Gearbox on mine A1 at 172k when it went the journey. Clutch a doozy to change....

Shitting Norah, that 159 is incredibly cheap.

Aren't these the things you could (once) buy out of Littlewoods catalogue for £1.99 per week for several thousand months?

I think £100 may be a tad optimistic but it's in Newton-Le-Willows which isn't far from Preston. Is it Marty?

I fear the vendor has scoffed one jellied eel too many but this does seem quite cheap at £250 BIN/Best Offer

That diesel Sierra looks really nice although I bet it'd do your head in if you drove it on a daily basis.

I had one as a daily around 2008-9,I wish I'd kept it. as an everyday work hack they are fine. slow as feck, mind, I mean REALLY slow. first time you drive them you think it's broken as so little happens when you put your boot down. but once its got the wind in its sails it will sit at 70-80 no bother for as long as the flat road lasts and do about 95 top end.

Still, the plus points are the same as a Merc w123 240d. the engine never goes wrong, does 40-45 mpg and will run on veg quite happily.

Yep, they were slower than a three legged, asthmatic tortoise that'd been nailed to the floor. To be fair though, they weren't as awful as the similar sized Carlton diesel engine, whose only feature seemed to be to sound like a tractor going up a 1/10 hill pulling seventy five tonnes of potatoes behind it.

1.8 T Spark any better?  This is rather nice.

Rainy-day photos do not help but seems pretty good for £700 plus it's had the belts done.

Edit: No red leather.  Boo.

I love 156's, I had had 3 or 4 of them, all twin sparks. Nice cars to drive and the Momo leather is lovely.

Not so well built as to be expected but the TS engines are great, 2.0 150bhp is the best imho.....

They are so cheap to buy you could go through them at a rate!

Needs those back lights fucking right off out of it.

Suit you Mr B?

I was nearly heading out the door, but EIGHT HUNDRED FUCKING QUID for it and they haven't even washed the bloody thing, the pox infested scenetax inflated bastards.

I could have had a C15 with tax and mot for less than that, and still had enough change for some coffee, a pasty and a copy of razzle on my way home.

Edit: and he hasn't even bothered to put a steering wheel on it?
