I dont think anyone's going to get involved in cutting and shutting a flipping Maxi, I would say its more likely to be the combined efforts of 30+ years of folk trying to keep the rust at bay!

When I worked at Worthing bus station many many years ago, someone dumped a car identical to this where the drivers were meant to park their cars. People parked there every now and then which was fine, we would just point out it was the bus stations car park with limited parking for those who worked there and  told them not to do it again and generally they didn't.

However this Astra was these for a couple of days, obviously not just a shopper taking the piss but someone leaving their shitheap car on private property. To deter them from doing it again, we accidentally crashed a bus into the side of it putting a scrape down the side and taking off the mirror. A bus then accidentally reversed into the front and cracked the bumper.

The day after these to incidents the car was still there. Later on that evening, some chap randomly turns up at the garage saying his car has broken down on the seafront as a hose had split.

'What car is it' we asked?

'Astra GTE' he replied.

'Well, there is that one over there, do you want a hose off that?'

'Really, whose car is it?'

'No idea who owns it mate, all I know is that its parked on private property'

'Okay'

So we broke into the car, popped the hood, took off the hose and fitted it to this chaps car and he drove off happy as Larry.

About 20 minutes later the bouncer from Rutherfords, the 'classy' nightclub on the pier strolled up to the car. Within a few seconds he was looking pretty miffed as his car was obviously much more fucked that when he left it. He went up to one of the drivers mouthing off asking what had happened but the driver just said 'Fuck knows' and wandered off.

We were all watching with great amusement from the garage as angry bouncer man then got in the car, started it up and set off down the road. We jumped in my Renault 5 and followed him for about half a mile until he invariably broke down as there was no water in the radiator and we drove past him laughing our tits off. Never heard from him again or had any comeback from it (although this is now in the public domain so there is still time I suppose).

This looks SERIOUSLY FUPPING ACE for 350€, its a long way away mind you. But, I can assure you you'll feel like a proper Hi-ROLLIN' SHITE PLAYA as the plane banks round over the marina before coming in to land in Nice airport when you go to fetch it. Ask me how I know.

This SImca 1100 is right on the doorstep of the bo11ox museum, I have thought a few times about knocking on the door and offering them 100€. Now its up for sale for 250, which TBH is a bit steep IMO, its got no reg document and the rear window has been smashed for about 2 years. Looks mega rot-free though.

Not quite so good when you realised the alloys aren't included and it comes with a set of shit, perished tyres

Mind you, possibly a safer bet than those stupid stretched tyres already on it.

I was going to say re: that Escort, the fact that it doesn't have the wheels included has just made it more attractive to me.

Also, I never realised Maxis looked quite that ungainly at the back. It's like the wheel is in the wrong place and nobody could be arsed to change it before they went to production.

Maybe not now, but perhaps when they were very young...

Mine in 1986.  I am convinced that's exactly what had happened to it under the "care" of a previous owner.

I've never had a Ford, and after missing out on the ex-brookjim/RobT/Wuvvum Sierra I'm starting to think I wouldn't mind one ...

Do we know who now owns the AS Sierra bike?

It appears that I have just bought this for £550.

Now I just need to get the passport renewed and sort out a cheap flight from Sunderland to Darlington.

Loving the 'bombsite car lot' stickers and twatty wheeltrims on this, always a sign you're dealing with a solid reliable vehicle broker who'll be there to help you should the need arise. Still, only 29k on this one-owner 306 sedan with full history. £695.
