Apparently that Allegro has Mk11 seats - I'm not sure what a Mk11 Allegro would be, perhaps a Rover 25?

That Allegro is super-dismal! 1000cc A-series, 2-dr, that god-awful beige trim.... I'd probably stop half way through my journey and just shoot myself in the face.

I caught myself wondering what it would be like to own one whilst looking at those photos, luckily snapped out of it.  Hope that doesn't happen again.

These facelifted ones are much more appealing than the earlier ones, this seems like an absolute bargain for £1500.

it’s the right car with the right mileage, the right colour and it’s definitely in the right condition

I'd have to agree with him.

I'am currently questioning my mental state as something about that Allegro appeals to me, it's almost impossible to make the spec and state of it anymore shite.

Not sure why it'd be on a Q plate just because it wasn't registered for a few years.  Nonetheless though, a non-rusty Mk3 Transit, slightly rarer than some precious metals.

Also benefits from being upholstered in that awful sandpapery velour-ish material that ancient school coaches used to sport.

Strange colour, bog-basic Envoy spec, auto box, one Vicar owner.  Nice.

My Dad had a brand new one of these as a company car on an L plate, burgundy with the 1.7TD engine.  As a kid sat in the back I'd have liked it a lot more at the time if it had had the fancy velour seats that the Vicar got, Dads came with a rough sort of scratchy cloth which was itchy as hell if you were wearing shorts.

I once owned a 1-litre Allegro.  Just don't.

That silver Audi 100 on the last page is singing sweet songs to me BIG TIME.  Even Mrs Skizzer says it won't necessarily result in immediate divorce.

Will it be terminally dull, though?  Advice please.

No, they are a really nice drive, nice noise and an excellent driving position. Just really nice all round.

Found my Audi 100 pretty dull, though it did sound nice to be fair. Watch it though as the 2.0E was only a four-pot I think. They sound less warbly. Mine was a 2-litre 5-pot.

Hmm, thanks DW.  Actually, I meant this one:

...which is a carburetted 5-pot.  Just read a 1980 road test of it courtesy of Trigger on Flickr, which suggests it'll be fairly competent but with more than a hint of blandness.  A bit like me.

On the other hand, if I don't like it then it shouldn't be too hard to find a buyer... hmm, we'll see if it's still for sale in the morning.

I've never seen a carbed facelift model in poverty spec "L" trim.

Pity about the bin lid though.
