Abso-bloody-lutely. That's the trouble when some blancmange bollocked shitfest decides his pet ant bid on your car so doesn't want it now.

A lot of people assume you have either schill bidded on your own listing or that the highest bidder turned up and thought it was crap, so a relist usually means taking a knock to some extent. The problem is people like old custard cock with the 405 just cement the fears of the average punter.

Posted

Well y'man with the 405 is an interesting one no doubt, the way his listing and re-listing gets more and more hysterical puts me in mind of that film Boogie Nights where Dirk Diggler doesn't have the money to get the master tapes of his recording sessions (which are awful) to take to the record company

"we will take the tapes and get a record deal, and then we will come back and pay you. Have you heard our sh1t? We're going to get a deal, we're that facking good!"

..and so on, can't help but think that his over-wrought text does nothing for his sale, its got to be infuriating for him but his manner is one of an utter harness, the car is over priced anyway but the reality of a motor with no tax or test is that for most punters to remove that kind of car legally is beyond their own means, therefore they have to hire or bring in someone to move it anywhere and that can be dear.... alternatively someone with a truck is only going to want to pay it's weigh in value, and even then I can see it being left as its just a bit vin ordinare

By the by just a little spot on a site over here in Ireland, had a bump or two in the listing plus a drop in price but still seems to be attracting as much interest as a day old vol au vent but really....

He's dreaming if he thinks he'll get anything close to his asking price for a 17-year old XM with 180,000 miles on it.

I'd offer him €400 for it. The road tax alone is €1005 a year.

:shock::shock: Are people really that stupid????

Yes and knows no limits, can tell you a tale of someone who brought a secondhand Citroen BX on one of those finance schemes with bum raping interest, they were still paying on it at least 7 years after the car had been scrapped.

Posted

Did they default on payments? Because you can only normally do car finance over 5 years.

Posted

I think they may have or got involved in some dodgy loan shark type thing which wouldn't be suprising since the person was up to the eyeballs in debt..

Posted

If my ex missus hadn't had been a shady f'cker and refinanced stuff without my knowledge, technically I'd still be paying for a 1997 Mondeo which went on the back of a beavertail to meet "Mr Grabby Grabby" in 2007, already having five years of repayments under its belt.

Turns out our joint loan which was secured on the car got paid off when she secretly borrowed more money but couldn't get my signature. Then we started a debt management thing, and then split up so that loan will still be being paid off by her at 26p a month or something.

PLEASE stop re-posting pictures on this thread. Sorry to sound like a miserable old bastard (even though I am anyway) but twice is fair enough if a point is to be made, but three or more times is too much. You can make comments without reposting pictures. Soz and all that, it's just it spoils the enjoyment of this ace thread a bit.

I'm no expert on gays (They never did that class at college when I was there) and I know it's generalizing a bit, but from my experience they have a lot better taste than a Yaris with loads of car boot sale chonk chrome stuck all over it.

i am 65 and when i get out they expect a 19 year old

That's nothing to be proud of mate

This Yaris is fuggin awesome, check the patter

Google "Bill Of Sale Act 1878"

This kind of shit is just about legal, but the OFT are trying to get it done away with...

That'd make a Perkins seem like a Ferrari. Much lol-age at the ramps too, I had some just like that on my first recovery truck (Mk2 Transit) and had to replace the wood three or four times at least and the metal frames twice.

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLE: REPRESENTATIVE 59.8%APR. Flat rate fixed interest of 30% per annum. 156 equal weekly repayments of £57.80.

The total amount payable on loan is £9266.55. The cash cost of the car is £4995.

 30% FLAT !? Holy shit, I've seen a few spicy rates in my time but that takes the biscuit. You'd have to be a grade-A scrote to be signed up on those terms... and a utter moron.

Posted

I read something about US car dealers doing this. The dealers essentially finance the cars themselves (rather than using the finance company) but charge massive interest rates. It's shite as it's targeting people who can't afford it/are too stupid to know better.

Posted

I wonder how much it cost to "modify" that Punto, what with the paint job, doors and the like? All that time, effort and money :roll: What a fugging misguided effort.

These things seem to be dropping like flys lately. It's like Mazda's pushed a self destruct button at the factory and they've all just gone lunched themselves.

Here's one for £550, which as about as cheap as I've seen one. I wonder how hard it'd be to put an mx-5 engine in it?
