I don't think an ST170 will ever be valuable either but the same things have always been said about old school Fords.....

I don't think back in the '80's and '90's any of us expected to see the day when a 1.3 mk 2 Escort would be selling for £4000+. An st170 might not make me a fortune but I reckon it would be pretty much depreciation proof if I didn't let it get ditched.

I had one of these 7 years ago and paid less than 2 grand for it, It was bitterly disappointing then for a car which was meant to be put up against the golf gti and other hot hatches of that era. 

Focus RS mk1 of the same vintage came out at the same time. Which are now doing 20 grand. Same lukewarm hatch with a measily 170 bhp are still only round a grand now. They weren't a million miles off the price off an RS when new so  in comparison to values now, so never gonna be a fortune for  mint example. 

Just because a car is shit, doesn’t mean it won’t appreciate. If you think ST170s are lukewarm, look at what people are paying for mk5/6 Escort GTIs and SIs now.

I constantly see them coming up for sale for a few hundred quid. I think the 3rd gen is quite a disappointment overall, perfect example of Honda, along with most other jap manufacturers, taking a step back from the exciting cars they built a few years prior. A second gen Legend, especially the coupe, on the other hand...

That's made at least a couple of appearances  on eBay, pretty sure the first two were auctions which (at a guess) would have found the true value of it. Perhaps they want too much for it, though I'm sure it'll find a home at some point.

Let's face it a 1.3 Sport mk2 wasn't in any way a "hot" car.
