eBay tat volume 3.

Those 6 pot rovers are great man, I think they are far more appealing than a V8 that has inevitably had half a dozen engine swaps in its life, usually ending up with some shitty worn-out low-compression thing from a Landy with one Stromberg and one SU carb.

Those 6 pot Rovers are cool and if engine problems develop, there must be an alternative, maybe a V8 could be made to fit.... :)

I've always wondered how feasible it would be to stick a BMW 24V motor with ZF 5 speed auto in one of these. I can see some people would consider it sacrilege but I think the result would be quite nice.

I had a 2.6 and loved it

It was underpowered but sounded lovely and was totally reliable mechanically although not electrically

Just looking at that A40. When I was a tiny nipper, I used to get taken to school in one of these by a neighbour. I seem to recall that the indicator control was a switch on the centre of the dashboard, whereas this one seems to have a stalk.  Is my memory bollocked up or did some of these have a dash mounted switch??

i think the mk1 cars had the switch in the middle of the dash, like the A35, whereas this one is a mark 2 A40, so as well as the full width grill, it got stalk on the steering column.

though that may, or may not be totally accurate.....

shit....

i had been hoping that no one else had seen this clubby listed cos it is just the thing i need to make my life complete.

once i sack the MPi off, this is just the car i would love to own, instead of an Allegro or Maxi maybe?

in fact, why not some, many or all of them!

Soz. :(

Bolton's not too far away from a known, good XUD9 owner-with-A-frame either...

I've got a good XUD9TE here, still fitted in an MOT'D and towbar equipped ZX estate. I know common sense tells me not to part with it, but I could possibly be persuaded!

Train to Bton whilst carrying a-frame. Collect ZX, collect Rover, go home.

Just a thought, like......

I really fancy one of these Clio 172 Exclusive editions.

Basically a 172 but with beige leather sports seats, BBS alloy wheels and only came in Scarab Green. Every one of them is numbered from 1-172 as well. It's very very hard to find an unmolested one.

Hah!

On my patch if anyone's daft enough to want it looked at.

I had a 1600TE, with the K Jetronic system.  It was a lively thing to drive, at least compared to the 1300cc Beetle I had before.  The 412LE that I had afterwards felt more refined but the Fastback was a sweet spot between a Beetle's lightness and a Type 4's performance.
