Completely agree, sack that wood off it looks shit

 

 

The "problem" shows low break pressure and low fluid level on the dash, I have spent over £700 on new parts which solved the problem for two weeks, but subsequently the light has come back on the dash.

 

Money well spent

It's like xr3i's. There seems to be 9 convertibles for every 1 hatchback for sale. Who bought them all?

 

What are these Land Rovers actually like? There's so much scene tax, life style one life bollocks about them it's hard to get a gauge on them.

This pickup is for sale with the 2.5 di engine (I presume from the transit) for £2200 and it's doesn't look to bad. I

Bit of a marmite car, in terms of what you get for your money a Toyota or Nissan is better for performance, space, comfort, probably reliability too.  However the Land Rover has a huge amount of charm and the simplicity means they've got real integrity, but that's all lost when you hang aftermarket accessories on it.

 

If it's badged 110 or 90 then a diesel would have the 19J engine, a diesel turbo.  The Defender (110 or 90) came with the Tdi, first the 200Tdi and later 300Tdi and they are a much better engine.  Conversions are available and have been done, but check for quality of installation.

 

Rust on the chassis is the biggest problem (usually most visible on the rear crossmemeber where other cars have a rear bumper), rust on the bulkhead comes next.  Otherwise they're quite easy to fix, parts backup is excellent and forum support is good too.

 

I'm 6'1" tall and it's got enough room for me but you have to bend yourself into its shape.  A bit like riding a motorbike really.

So tempting. I'm thinking drive to Luton airport with the A frame in the boot, flight to CDG, train to where it is, drive it back to Luton airport, hook it on the A and drive home. Outbound flight is at 7.10 am so could even do it in a day. I've studied the logistics man.

Doesnt work Boll,

 

You'd need to drive around 150 miles to Calais, in an unroadworthy car that hasnt driven in 6 months. Dieppes a little closer, but a much slower crossing.

 

Of course if you took the paperwork & plates from a Uk equivalent, together with a large bag of spanners.....

Left hand drive BARN FIND P6 v8, you must have had to be pretty hardcore to buy one of these in France in the early 70's instead of a DS or whatever

 

For those who wanted a car that looks good, actually works, and has twice the power of a DS, it wasn't a bad choice.

His children not puking in it as soon as it is in motion was an added bonus.

Yeah I thought that and not too far away. Trouble is the poole cherbourg crossing with the trailer is 500 quid which removes any profit that could of been had. Unless anyone has any shit that needs transporting out there to cut costs
