That Disco pic is brilliant, its got all the ingredients including utterly hopeless half-arsed ‘project’ vehicle cobbled together by an obviously cack-handed moron of limited spatial awareness, badly photographed on a shitty bit of rubbish-strewn wasteground next to his estate, taken on a miserable, piss wet, cold day. Poetry.

Well, that's made me chuckle. Thanks very much :D

What an ugly fucker that is...

It looks so 'front wheel drive' with that huge overhang at the front, like an Audi.

The Martini graphics on this are a bit tasteless, but it's still a white 924 2 litre with the funkiest interior. The Citroen BX I've owned for 2 weeks is now up for sale

The Martini colour scheme for winners, is like this

That doesn't show the paint on the bonnet, which is as rough as a town centre tart's make up. Interior is peachy though

MoT - November I think, but Dollywobbler couldn't put his hand on the certificate 2 weeks ago

Tax - End of September

Price - £550

Where - Bedfordshire, MK45 1BZ

Ben, I see you're in Cambridge - I work at CB4 1GR if you want to see it in daylight!

If you want to be the smartest Barry in town, this Proton could be just the thing. I quite like these, but the wheels here push it into the hideous zone

And I still can't. Genuinely baffled by that one. Guess it hasn't turned up in the glovebox or door pockets or something? V5C or a previous MOT cert should allow you to check it online, but it was definitely November.

WTF is going on with that Suba-jeep thing!! Bloody hell, top find.

Can you get 2nd hand spares for these from french france or you just generally up for a main dealer bumming if you want a bumper or a headlamp?

Posted

They're just as rare in France amazingly, so even regular trawling of FrogBay turns up very little and when things do appear, they're still massively expensive. Which is why I know I'll regret not buying this if it stays on that side of £500. Especially if I have another bonnet vs windscreen moment

Imagine rocking up at the War & Peace show in this laughably out of proportion fuck-up and sticking in next to a line of Willys.

WOW! Was just speaking about that to my brother yesterday. I know that built it years ago. Local to me autoshiters will know his wee garage at crathes. Colin Christie is his name and his house is called tappets. ;)

Luke, is ebay really popular in France, or are you looking at the wrong site?

(NB: This is not a rhetoric question. I have no clue about the French internet market.)

I'm watching that passat to see what the Golf Estate is - doesn't look like he's had time to ruin that too much yet.

I've tried all sorts of French sites, but the issue is that even the French didn't buy 'em

The UK Avantime owners club tends to have a few bits knocking around from time to time, but people have an awful habit of loving them too much to break them. I reckon there's a fortune in breaking one over time.

Might be worth checking BENELUX, too.

Can you still get most bits from Renault if you've got the ££ or are even they stuggling for parts? There's two of them in the town I live in, which I always keep an eye on incase they appear with a for sale sign in them one day. They've both had them for years though so they either love them or have given so much money supporting the french economy they can't bring themselves to sell them.

Cheers Luxo :)

Aye it's a car I'm surprised you haven't owned. They're actually ultra reliable, a lot more so than the Laguna and Vel Satis. Those mad looks hide a pretty dated car underneath with not much to F up! Yep Renault still supply everything, but you're talking £65 for an alloy wheel centre cap (seriously).

Posted

They've always just been out of my budget, which is very annoying. They seem to be creeping back up in price too so the chances of getting one are becoming slimmer. If I can get some decent £ for this Smart ForFour I'm trying to coax back to life I might keep and eye out for one. I've loved them since the day they come out!

Posted

Yeh, a Renault that frustratingly holds its value!! I'd buy one ASAP if I were you, as you've already said, values are starting to climb (and thats official, the owners club track prices and market trends) and I doubt they'll ever drop to Vel Satis level :x
