Sold Mercedes 190E 2.0 Auto £700

Up for sale is Mrs SK's 190E 2.0 automatic.

It looks really good in photos but up close the paintwork is covered in scratches and lacquer peel.

The tyres, brakes, shocks and exhaust were renewed 2 years ago and it went through it's last mot with no issues, next mot is due at the end of February.

Mileage is around 120k.

It does have LPG fitted but it doesn't run very well on it so we have always used petrol.

It starts, stops and drives fine most of the time, occasionally it stalls first thing in the morning when it's cold but always restarts.

There's a slight weep of coolant from the thermostat housing and the electric fan needs wired in, it's never overheated but it's something that needs looking at.

Interior is fair, there's some bolster wear on the drivers seat.

I have a 124 same colour. That has the peel too - other 124's I've had have not had this - seems it's this particular colour that goes.

Nice car though. Good price these era Merc's are going up in price quite fast. Finding any good 190 or 124 under £1000 is getting more  difficult. Cars to keep a lifetime - I did over 300 miles in a day over Xmas in mine no sweat and 30 yo.

My smoke silver 190E has exactly that pattern of paint deterioration on the bonnet..........I thought it was maybe because my bonnet insulation is missing but maybe not, seeing this one.  

 

In case I haven't bored anybody with this before - If you have never tried a W201 do so!  

 

This seems an excellent example for the money, I honestly think these are the best cars built for the purpose in the 20th century.   By default, that means EVAH.  

 

Nice to not have the gloomy grey interior, too..... GLWTS

That is the same colour as the one I had, but mine had cream leather.
