Dutch spots - UK spots actually this time...

Ha, great find! Love the old ones more though...

What the infuriatingly Holier Than Thou Top Gear Carbage garbage fails to point out is, that the front, and I think also the back, of that Veedub is/was a comercially available kit, based on the 1940 Ford. And, I actually think it looks quite good! I get a bit hacked off with the superior sneering of the so-called cool people with taste, directed at the uncool with no taste. Says who? Surely, the whole point of taste is, it's personal?

This seems as good a place as any to add my Dutch spot taken on my daytrip for work this week. Unfortunately, though I did spot quite a few old cars, they were mostly as we were on the move so this is the only one that presented a photo opportunity :(

Just as an aside, did we get the saloon version of this model Mazda 323 in the UK? Can't ever remember seeing one :?

Never seen a 323 saloon, but I bet they're rather nice. I quite fancy one of the 323F estates - they have a very pleasant lightweight feel to them, a comfy ride and and a nice whizzy little engine.

Wolseley was in Barendrecht, I think it belongs to a guy who works at the bike dealer in the pic.

Cheers - would love to see it up close, but that's a bit too far.

The Borgward is in fact a Wartburg, and that with the Mirafiori have made my night!

Posted

Lovely Wart! The red dwarf's indeed a Honda (N600), was that in Holland too?

Posted

I think the red sports car in the dealer's window is a Glas 1600GT, might be wrong though.

Posted

Most certainly is a Glas, either a 1300GT or 1700GT, could even be the later BMW badged version. (BMW 1600GT). Gorgeous cars.

pity about the wheels though,i thought it was a mazda as it was displayed in a mazda dealers showroom!oh ps,the honda was accross the road, the dutch spots were in nijmegen,i would have had much for if my digi cam was quicker in starting up,grrrcheers scott

Think that Trans-Am is a 10th Anniversary special edition (1979), lovely.

It was first registered (not here though) in 1979 indeed!

- wasn't it something unexpected like a Datsun os something? - the S1 for me any day!
Posted

Early series 1 Esprits had Fiat X1/9 taillights, series 2 had SD1 lamps, facelifted cars after '88? had Toyota lamps!

Love the colours of the DS!I saw one of those Lotuses a couple of months ago on the school walk (why do people say "run" when they invariably drive?) They look awesome mixing it with mode traffic.
