i just swapped a r reg subaru legacy tax til 10/09 mot til 5/2010 just spent £200 om it getting the cam belt done and replacing 2 bent inlet valves took it to my mechanic to get the timing sorted out and he said after compression test that it needed more valves the other side of block so i said oh blow i,m not spending another £200 on parts the cars not worth that in my eyes so went and swapped for this

That's odd that the Legacy bent some valves, I was under the impression that the Subaru boxer lumps are non-interference.

My understanding is that the 2.0 is non-interference, but the 2.5 and 3.0 have spectacular valve bending potential!!

I'm yet to get a definitive answer - I've seen some folk claim that any 16-valve Subaru flat-four can mash valves. Rather than worry about it any longer, I sold mine instead.

If I neglect my 2.0 Legacy saloon long enough, I may be able to clear the matter up once & for all

bent the valves trying to undo the pulley to change the cambelt spanner slipped and took a couple of teeth out hence bent valves any way the fella i swapped it with has just sold it on ebay

Q: Did text earlier and recieved an answer phone message. Have made an offer of £350 and will pay paypal if accepted. I will want to collect tomorrow if possible. Steve 30-Jul-09A: As stated in my answerphone message you do need to call me & explain why I would want to lose around £100 from my sale price by giving you £50 discount, ridiculous ebay sellers fees & paypal costs. Pqaypal is not safe to receive money for anything you cannot post & as I have never posted a car that method of payment is not an option.
