I don't know. I've been selling cars for 22 years and have dealt with many thickos but this is a new phenomenon. They must be bored as well as thick

It's a buying tactic.  They find a bunch of stuff that meets whatever criteria they have, message all of the sellers "£100 2nite m8" and whichever is best of the bunch (in their estimation) for the price gets bought.  They then do fuck all to it and attempt to punt it on at a vastly inflated price via social media.

 

It's not exactly the smartest strategy, it's just that enough knuckle draggers believe it works that it keeps being a thing.

Exactly, and they also then decide that if you'll come down £100 on the phone/by messenger, you'll come down even more if they ever bother to turn up. Which, of course, they don't.
