Reg change

A good while back I bought a reg from the DVLA. It's just my initials and a 3 digit number.  A bit of a treat/laugh.

Now, obv I need to show the retention cert to get new plates made up, so no issues there. I'll have to tell the robbing insurance people, so admin charge looming no doubt.

Main question is..... will I need to get a new MOT with the changed index number or will common sense apply and link it 'on the system'?

It will all be fine. Back in the day the DVLA would send a new MOT certificate and new Tax disc in the post.

Nowadays you get an email.

You could wait till insurance renewal  time and swap them then not have to pay an admin charge.

It's nearly a year before that happens mate. I'll have forgotten about it by then lol.

As chaps say, 'tis a peece of piiice' to change on line.

Your e-MOT changes and you get a new 'log book' and your e-tax changes.

It all happens in an instant and the new log book or V5C arrives in a few days.

Most time consuming part is getting the plates made up and fitting.

Wot you got A69PBK ? AU10SHT ? AU15HTE ? MY51HTE ?

Odd but no online option, it's all send X,Y and Z to the DVLA.

The MOT “certificate” these days is actually just a receipt technically - online database is king and that swaps over as soon as the transfer is done.

Done it. Just got to sort some plates out and tell the insurance company.
