pandamonium Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Just acquired this!I also acquired almost enough spares to build another car! Engine, doors, seats, wing, grille, carpets, etc etc. Poor Mazda had to carry all the bits home! Thanks to Torsten1001!
brammy777 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 niiiiiiiiiiiiice plans for this?i think that suits the steel wheels so much betterautoshite shade too, well done!
pandamonium Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Yeah, wheel trims were pants. Torsten, you'll get over it. I'm sure something new is on the Horizon.
FredTransit Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 What other kind of shite car does that look like?
whitevanman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 wish I'd known it was for sale.................I want a decent Samara in my life
pandamonium Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Well, when you want to part with the beast in your sig, let me know.Cos that's what it'd take!
whitevanman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Well, when you want to part with the beast in your sig, let me know.Cos that's what it'd take!Really ?
pogweasel Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Ace work!I hope it's as unpleasant to travel in as it is to look at. Love the economy swingometer. What powers it along?
pandamonium Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 The economy meter is ULTIMATE WIN!Yes, it is almost as terrible as the Horizon to drive, but at least it has a stereo. It is the 1300GL, but I have a spare 1500 engine too that has only covered 5000 miles.
pogweasel Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 The economy meter has no numbers on it, so it's totally irrelevant! It could be ranging between 'quite bad' and 'abysmal' for all you know (and I suspect that's not far from the truth)
Milford Cubicle Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 It isn't based on anything as far as I know. 100% LADA TECHNOLOGYEpic shite, I haven't seen one of these on the road for the best part of a decade.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Yeah these are super rare now arent they. Quite a neat looking little machine actually, I could put up with one of those for a while I think. Will you be trying a few different wheel trims/ring combos on it?
trigger Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Great work, I love it! I scanned a Autocar road test for one of these a while back, The link is below but you need to log on and click all sizes to see it better. http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/sets/72157617135250114/
FredTransit Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 It isn't based on anything as far as I know. 100% LADA TECHNOLOGYEpic shite, I haven't seen one of these on the road for the best part of a decade.Good god! I thought Ladas were recycled Fiat designs or summat....
Torsten2001 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 believe it or not I think Porsche had a hand in this!
Mr_Bo11ox Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I remember some reference to porsche with these things too. Maybe they bought the tooling to the ashtray out the early 924
Torsten2001 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 defo not the ashtray, that is a momument to seriously lazy design!
michiel Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Nice one - made me realise the few in my 'hood aren't there anymore, I think. Shame, they made me smile.
pandamonium Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Yes, the ashtray and in fact all the interior plastics seem like an afterthought - like a kitcar. The glovebox came off in my hand!!!It was the engine that had Porsche backing AFAIK, and produces a heady 65bhp and 68lb/ft of torque @ 3000rpm.0 - 60 is is 16 seconds!
VWPowered Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 soviet shite superbe cant be many left now in the real world
mattblack Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 It isn't based on anything as far as I know. 100% LADA TECHNOLOGYEpic shite, I haven't seen one of these on the road for the best part of a decade. There's a picture of one in my spotted thread, I pass it every day...
Milford Cubicle Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I've just been reading about Samaras, apparently you could get them with 130-180bhp twin-rotor engines in Russia! Interesting article about rotary Ladas here http://cp_www.tripod.com/rotary/pg07.htm
