My view for the past 40 minutes. Heater box is in, hot/cold control is repaired and connected. I just need to sort the rod that does the flaps and that'll be better than it was. Particularly as I was able to locate my nuts quite rapidly. They were in the ash tray.

Never mind that. Did you find the fasteners you needed?

Yup, sure did.

After much pfaff (and a flashlight-throwing tantrum) it's all in and the air side is hooked up and operational. Plumbing to follow.

Finally fixed my vise to the bench correctly.

Found the little sheet metal screws and bolted the brackets on properly and the fresh air duct (right game that was, I took them off when the engine was out).

Hot in the garage, kept getting dive-bombed by wasps. Called it a day.

Still hot in the garage. Managed at some point to soak this wiring with oil. The looming tape went all gooey. Removed it in prep to fit heavier gauge wiring to the alternator and battery primary circuits.

Now I smell of diesel. But it did remove the goop from my fingers.

Crimped and soldered a suitable O-ring onto the new alternator output wire.

Got it all lined up and started to loom it back together. Ran out of enthusiasm and rebuilt the inline resistance under the dash that goes in parallel with the GEN bulb. The bulb by itself is inadequate to get the circuit to start charging at low enough RPM, so a resistor in parallel helps with this. It also has the added benefit that if the bulb burns the circuit is still complete and the alternator will still charge. Handy because the bulbs aren't off the shelf any more (they used to be though, which sucks).

I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, the misfire was the valves sticky.

It's a remarkably responsive engine for its size though.

'bucket of gas and battery  - all it needs'  :D

from the torque reaction it could be a bmw bike :D

Edit: Stand corrected, I see the gearbox up on the stand. I'd forgotten just how long ago that was. That there is sans gearbox. That's why the starter went CLANG, the rest of the fluid coupling was not connected to the flywheel.

Correct. Gonna wait for the dust to settle a little after I traded the pickup truck in against it.

No, it's neither. Missed my old blue one.

Someone spent on the options, thinking it's a Texas car (front plate holder, radio was set to country, country, country and country).

So, it's got the 8 speed automatic. I don't mind- it can change gear a damned sight faster than I can...

moo inside ?

Yeah but unfortunately it's screwed through the front bumper so I'll have to think about that.

Half moo half suede/velour.

if they where so bent on keeping it in the 200RPM power/torque band they should of just fitted it with one of these

It's not a diesel! The torque band is remarkably wide for such a big engine (vtec kicked in, yo).

I'm not sure that belt is rated for nearly 500hp either...

so instead of torque surf you can kick its arse ?

Put it this way. It's hard to keep in a straight line when you press the pedal down.
