An interesting photochop by someone.

Found whilst looking for Citroen GS 4x4 which I thought was real but (unfortunately) google says no.

A CX 2-door coupe (even just fwd) would have been more than a bit fabtastic.

This could be where my Mustang confusion stems.

post-17414-0-04079100-1534698402_thumb.jpeg

This was converted in 1965 before the Zephyrs or indeed the Jensen FF.

This apparently had the front suspension changed from coils to a torsion bar set up,possibly the Zephyrs had similar.

This Mustang , one of two imported but the only one converted was retained by Ferguson until 2007 and is now in a museum in Florida.

525ix was 4x4 wasn't it?

Wasn't there a 325iX too? (might not have been in UK).

What about the VW Trainspotter 4x4 (T4 or T5 - not a dubber so not sure). While we're on the subject of vans, both Transit & Sprinters come in 4x4 format, usually owned by utility companies for field repair (literally I suppose).

Cit 2CV Sahara, a unique take on 4x4, 2x two-wheel drive engine/trans, one at each end!

And to go the other way - Land Rover - 4x2 version! (Series 1 military variant).

Front coils/struts for a RWD car might get in the way of driveshafts, see the interesting* Mercedes 300 4matic coil spring several posts above.

Ordered by the RAF for driving around airfields as 4x2 would be cheaper. Obviously they actually cost more due to the cost of designing the conversion. Now very rare as most got converted back to 4x4 once demobbed.

BMW have offered 4wd 3 and 5 series since the 80s.

Currently you can buy any shape of BMW with 4wd, 1,3,4,5,6,7, series and the new 8 will have it as an option as well.

Not all are available in rhd though.

No idea on that one, I've never been a BMW fan. I only new about the 525 as a Dr used to have one at a surgery in the Peak District i supported.

The E30 was available as the 325iX - 4wd but not in the UK.

They can be modified to take the M50 engine setup (Inc superweird sump) from the e34 525iX.

This means you can build a boosted m52 2.8/3.0 onto the M50 iron block and GLF

Interesting they had the drive shaft in the sump design too, so Ford didn't invent that bodge for the Sierra after all.

The people in the caravan next to ours on holiday had an a4 all road, and I can't say I didn't stare at it a few times and quite liked it... Same as the volvo one they did, v40 maybe? Just the right mix of looking a bit chunky and rot hiding plastic but without being overboard and looking stupid!

This old girl is currently laid up just down the road from me, it was a regular sight for a couple of years, needs a wheel bearing and a few other bits iirc? Can't be many Dangel 504's about in the UK either I should think.

I remember posting spots of that onto the forum when I first joined, if you ever hear he's selling it please let me know.

No idea what he's doing with it tbh, I'd love to do a few miles in it to keep a few off the 405 . Plus a steady trundle up a few of the banks up your way at the very least
