Probably maybe , not sure which mode of transport yet ....

I was assuming PM but that's only an assumption...!  Really, it's who can be where and when...

Bringing the Mazda, mate?

Afraid so chap. 1 in one out at the wrench shack I'm afraid, only steed I have now, but warming to it these days.

It's a fine steed.  Still looking at the weather and deciding whether or not I can be bothered to drive a 75 bhp Focus.  Otherwise it'll just be the boring, battered, teutonic, quickish thing.

How does Headcorn aerodrome, 5th August at 1PMish sound to everyone?

I don't usually go for V'Dubs, but that that one of yours makes a lot of sense IMO, I thought it was a bloody good, propper vehicle. Move yourself and others around reliably and if the need arises fill it up with a ton of paving slabs and sand :-D. Good practical sense is different from boring IMO. Boring and exciting can also be stupid I suppose. Practical on the other hand alludes to having understanding and therefore an intellect.

The Headcorn classic car meet starts at 10am so will probably be over by middayish.

I don't know.  The Passat when new wasn't much more expensive but still has a much larger load capacity (and getting spare parts is a lot easier for estate-specific tasks) so the Golf was always a bit of a weird choice.  Apparently it can chipped to 189 bhp.  That's tempting.

I just want to see this Mazda.  I've never really had much to do with them as cars.  My parents had a Nissan when I was very small but that's about as close as I ever got.

Probably an opinion that could lead to me being sent away and given a free orange jump jumpsuit, but.... Mazda, Nissan, any Japanese 2WD 1.6-2.0L Family hatch or Saloon are all pretty much the same.

So the Sigma estate 3.0 v6 fwd 5 speed manual isn't very normal. I've never seen another in the real world .... yet

I might be up for this. The easy option would be to come in my Jaaaag, but my broken arm is improving to the extent that I might be able to drive a manual OK by Sunday. So I wondered about trying to wake my Fiesta from its slumber. Never been to this meet or indeed any other car meet, is it the sort of do where I might get some interest in a shabby Mk3.5 1.3LX for sale, or would I get banished to the furthest possible corner?

Anything is welcome! Just ask Wrenchvolt about his old Clio...

Posted

I did! It nearly won the game of Top Chod.

Until the rear-engines Skoda turned up.

At least that was clean and you didn't stink of Stale Marlboro Lights for the rest of the day when you got out.

No but my old Fiesta smelled of stale Old Holborn for quite a few years...

Was hoping I'd be able to make this just so I could repeatedly refer to it as Headporn, as Bourne fella rightly commented earlier in the thread. In the mid 80s my mate and I cycled through it and refered to it as Headporn with a snigger. So its got historical precident... Just needs the signs altering.

Unfortunately I most probably won't make it. Front of car is dismantled and I really need to do a few days spraying that I was hoping to do last weekend, except it rained.

Will have to see what progress is made on Saturday and make a last minute call.
