Just back from auctions in Newark and looking at thurs cheapy sale.

Is this going to be a tomcat ?post-20451-0-15153500-1528836437_thumb.png

Yep, should be a late Tomcat (with an R3/bubble dashboard) and a K-Series (rather than Honda D-Series) engine.

Yes, that's a Tomcat. Sounds like it has a targa roof too.

I think it might be bubble dash at that age, alas both the D and K-Series engines are ~1590cc so can't tell you which it is, but I feel like it's a K if it's that late.

Righty ho.

I'll have a look tomorrow viewing and seek advice. Any pointers to watch out for

MOT history looks OK, a lot of advises but not big ones and they've cleared up recently.

SOHC (or a lack of Rover branding) is a Honda engine (unlikely), DOHC is definitely a K.

Seems like the sills have been welded at the rear ends (TADTS) so check carefully for bodges, especially considering they were advisories one year but fails the next - so they had a long time to rot out and around, hopefully it was all caught.

Check the trailing ends of the rear arches for rot/paint bubbling too.

The rear trailing arm bushes have been replaced at some point which is good news as they do a lot for ride/handling/tracking. Can be a slightly labour intensive job if farmed out.

No they weren’t. Tomcat was just the internal project name for the R8 coupe.
