I have a diecast one, the prototype Aleko was actually on a modified Alpine shell with quad round headlamps, it is a sort of mongrel lovechild of a Renault 18 Moskvich and Talbot Alpine. There even was a group B rallycar Aleko

And a fitting discussion for this thread, for we did see Alekos in Bulgaria.

Now with a pic!

Not a very good pic, because we were on a coach.

Switchgear is shared with the Lada Samara...

Was going to say. That tachometer and spedometer certainly look familiar.

With his comedy 'bodywork fixing in high altitude and fog in winter' routine

That driveshaft looks like it was changed on top of an unusually sunny Clee Hill.

I was thinking more with previous photos ;)

She is sporting a RHD headlight on the nearside after a lot of fannying about, offside to follow once I've got all the screws back in on the first one.  I've found a way to do it without welding as luckily the mounting for the lights is a similar distance from the base as on the bit of Capri.  I ground off the old mountings and drilled holes to fit the Capri bits.  lining up by trial and error.  I started with very small holes in the wrong places then expanded them in the right direction.  2 of the holes needed to be 10mm square so I used a jewelers saw from my modelling kit and lots of tiny fragile blades.

This obviously means I could have done it months ago as I'd waited until I could get the car near enough a power supply to weld.  This involved fixing the car so it would move and laying a power cable to the shed at the bottom of the garden which I needed to do anyway.

Other tasks completed are fitting the foglight (thanks Talbot), tidying the engine bay wiring, fixing the indicators and finding the rear seatbelt mounts with a multimeter!

So I guess that means we are not going to see it at the weekend!

Fingers are still crossed, I just need to work a lot harder than normal!

As a backup plan would you like the VP driven to the show? ;)

I know it's late, but I think Renault 17 headlights are plug and play on the Dacia , so they don't need any modifications because they use the same mounting system. And about the fog lights .... From what I know they came with rear fog lights from factory.

It has the wiring for a fog light, but also needs to be the other side for the UK.

Yeah... I forgot that the Mighty Dacia had the fog lights on the left lamp. Some of them have the fog lamps incorporated in the license plate lights and are easily swappable. Rich could just swap the wires around if I'm not wrong. I don't know that much about the estate models to be fair.

I'll leave this here for anyone that wants an update on the Mighty Dacia. ? (to freshen the thread a bit)
