Trust me, they can rot. That was the undoing of Mutha_Cleon-Fonte's T-reg Sharan 1.9TDi that was the family car for nearly a decade, before the front footwells and rear seatbelt mounting points miraculously disappeared (along with fair sized chunks of the tailgate).

This was a shame as mechanically the thing could probably have carried on forever.

Apart from a fag packet sized bit underneath, this is a bloody solid thing.

Mine has signs of waxoylimg underneath and doesn't seem too bad although there is some rust on each rear wheel arch and some untreated stone chips on the bonnet. Must get on to these!

Is there much boot space with 7 seats in use? As my kids get bigger I fancy one of these as a daily, though one of mine would have to go first!

There is quite a bit still with all 7 seats in place. At least a body or two, large bodies at that.

I have no pics to support this fact however, much apologies.

Probably about the same as a smallish hatchback.

We can get 7 and Father in laws mobility scooter (in bits) in at once. It is a bit Tetris getting it all in though.

All the seats slide independently, so short people in the rearmost seats = more boot space.

It was great when the kids were smaller, double buggy? No bother folding it up just chuck it in!

Thanks sounds ideal for me. Some mpv's have the rearmost seats so far back the seat backs could double as a tailgate. You couldn't get a Daily Record* in the boot!

Note to self. If you are fucking off to the barn to Galaxy fiddle, especially in relation to the sticking bonnet release, make sure you take the GT-85 that you put on the table especially so you wouldn't forget to take it.
