D Spares & Tyres

With a heavy heart I probably ought to move my Shogun on.

Been a faithful old beast for a few years but the injection pump has failed internally. It still runs but lots of diesel is finding its way into the engine oil now.

Was going to fix it eventually but too many projects, not enough time. Just can't be bothered. Going to buy an X Trail or something

Needs no welding.

Body very good

Tidy leather interior

2.8 turbo diesel with 5 speed manual box

Lovely car that had service history til I got it at 130,000. Its now on 150,0000.

Mot. Til august

Has four good tyres, bigger than standard. They are 3.1 x 10.5 r 15

£500 to a shiter

Side steps and mudflaps were removed to do the welding on the sills but I left them off as I prefer the lookpost-19511-0-36782000-1522397511_thumb.jpg

There is a pump for 74 quid on ebay and seal kits for much less. Just saying :)

Very common on these unfortunately - have had a couple of the later ones like yours. I sold that and it went for export... paid me £2k that was about 3 years ago

For anyone interested in this, there's a chap who lives near me who specialises in replacing pump seals in these.

He goes all over the country fixing them. I have his number, so if anyone wants to take a punt, drop me a pm and I'll pass his number on.

I have no idea how much he charges.

I'd run this by MrsTet, but being a manual makes it a no go.

The house you're parked next to has suffered some pretty extreme subsidence.

Thanks but it's an all day job for a competent mechanic. I am an incompetent one.

Fiddly spannering jobs literally depress me

I got £500 for my last one which went off to Africa so you did better than me! That one ran well but was rotten

That was our halfway stop in the Lake District, on the way to Scotland last August.

Managed to coax 29 mpg out of it on that trip

Worth asking about the pump up at Dieselec? Everyone who ever has work done there seems to rate the place and was talking to someone just last week and it seems their prices are very reasonable if not cheap compared to other places.

I've had an 9hr day just to swap the front seal on the 2.8 injector pump

So much stuff to move just to get to it...

That said if you can get it fixed then it would be ideal for a run out here to BG,and sell easy enough to make for an "interesting" road trip

P.X for rusty as fuck mk6 transit?

You should keep that and buy my Shogun and complete your late 1990s pikey look

Posted

Ah, I'm keeping the mk5, its almost a camper now.

The mk6 is a 2001 square headlight FWD shitter.

You want it? Thought not.

Nah you're alright, cheers anyway ☺

Forgot all about this because of Mondeo excitement and eventual disappointment.

I've now cross posted this onto the POC.

Just taken a deposit on this.

Feel slightly sad about it but there is no point it just sitting about deteriorating while I drive its replacement that is far more economical.

Happily though, it's off to Ukraine. They should get many more years out of it over there. More of a fix it culture than our wasteful throw it away one

Do people still export them then?

My boss has one sitting in the compound at work that he wants rid of. Runs and drives but has an oil leak and is a bit tatty

Posted

I thought the export on these had long since dried up but I suppose some people are sick of the later ones and their faults and just want a simple old one instead. Prices over there are daft. Still cheaper to buy on them convert to L HD
