Henham Wings & Wheels 2009 Show Pic's

Delayed photos from May. Always an enjoyable event with aeroplanes and other things to keep everyone amused, a few 'shiters/RRers/OJCers in attendance too.

For Mr_B. I look forward to seeing him adding the flags as part of his resto. We briefly followed then overtook the rather cute CA behind it on the way there.

Always liked these.

Think I've seen this in other people's show reports, so probably a regular on the local scene but first time for me. Splendid. I recall a few 2dr Cav's from when I was young, they always looked tidy.

Slightly down-at-heel look to this Opel GT. Styling not as successful as contemporary Manta A and their saloons of the time, in my humble opinion.

Posted Image

Pleasing look to this local car. Possibly a GT?

I often see the double decker go past my ofice window. Mrs SL quite liked the photo opportunities on this trio and took loads of arty pic's of the detailing on them.

Display by these a bit dull, Wuvvum said they have VW engines and are the shite of the skies.

Posted Image

Barmy! This is a glider doing an aerobatic display, deeply impressive.

Posted Image

I remember the article about this Kat kit in Street Machine.

Better use of orange paint on this lovely Mk3. Old man far more interested in something else, fool. Rear quarter/valance a bit wobbly?

Posted Image

Posted Image

A bit smarter than the similar-ish Triumph I saw on the pier at Lowestoft.

Posted Image

Of appeal to Seth?

Posted Image

Smart Mk1 as I know there are one or two on here rather fond of them.

Posted Image

Donkey ride vehicle, in need of T-cut.

Posted Image

No use smiling smugly when you've got the wrong plates on your car.

Posted Image

Another very blue car. Having recently also seen a facelift Mk1, come to the conclusion that pre-facelift is much nicer.

Owner of this really should be on here! He had the Alpine that was in attendance last year, definitely one of us. Wuvvum knows of this R5.

Posted Image

This made me laugh. Yes, they're MG owners, no they don't want to to talk to anybody.

Posted Image

More 1980s Street Machine type material.

A Pontiac Catalina 400, apparently. Marvellous!

Pic's suggested this rather purposeful Starlet started life as a 5dr.

Sinister Riviera.

I have an inexplicable fondness for these.

Lovely, I'd prefer a Cadillac from this era rather than the late '50s stuff.

RRer Aux's Sapporo with new wheels...

Giving me a gratuitous opportunity for one of these shots, Scrapman/Utterpiffle's lovely Dodge camper in view behind the pram (in itself doing well, given that it was the only one we used for both our children and it's now ferrying Scrapjr around).

Nice look to this 6-series.

Thank you very much.

Great pictures, cheers.I hate MGB owners clubs more than I hate MGBs. I would have loved to park my mouldy TR7 right in the middle of thier little meeting and walk off leaving it with the engine running.

NNNNGG! Thats lovely although slightly spoiled by the wierd none factory door mouldings.

Lovely shots SL. I did go "Ooo" at the Oxford estate before seeing your comment  Love the dangly mirror on the donkey wagon. I can imagine getting stuck behind that crawling along a winding road at 36mph for miles on end. MG owners collective is very amusing and I'd love to know what kind of paint is going on that Riviera :D

Yes, FAB pics :D Ferrari owners are also very precious about other cars invading their personal space. Which is why whenever I can, I stick the 500 near them, as it often attracts equal/more interest.

Nice picks there SL.Re. Pompei's Ferrari/Fiat comment, I had to laugh at what must have been the Focus RS owners club stand, Ford Fair 2007. Ten rows, four deep, of to all intents and purposes identical blue Foci, except for some joker who plonked a yellow Elise in one of the rows. Hilarious  - must see if I can find the photo

The wheels on the Colt look ace. I think simple is the way forward. The MG mob is ever so well captured. I take great pride in explicitly ignoring MG's when at shows, but this occasionally backfires because I have come across the occasional friendly owner. Love the colour of the Fiat too, like you say the plates look terrible. The MK3 cortina has the wrong ones too.

Some nice stuff there SL, LOL'd at the MG Moaners  Pick for me is the Mk1 Cav; grandad's was the same but 4-door and the Triumph 1500 is a peach, not many in Valencia blue and not many minters, would make a good matching pair for my 1300 8)

Standouts for me have to be the Cavalier (Tricentrol sticker in the back window may well give the game away as to why it's so tidy?) and the 6-series; the latter because it's nice to see one in pure, original non-spoilery form with original 14" Mahle alloys. Such a nice-looking car, and to think when it was launched in '76, muttering rotters thought it was overpriced (nearly the same price as an Aston at launch) and ugly compared to the CS.Great pics as ever, SL.

Was so close to buying that 'COW' Sapporo/Challenger at one point I think?LOL @ MG community, did they have any Maestro owners in there?

Posted

Some great photos there SL. Add me to the list of those who would love to take that Triumph home :)

LOL @ MG community, did they have any Maestro owners in there?

By a strange coincidence that picture was of a committee meeting deciding whether or not to let one in  Note the worried expressions :( At least they weren't in the matching t-shirts  Someone must have a photo of that sort of thing somewhere

That 5 TX is lovely, They were pretty advanced with Electric windows and PAS as standard.

I agree, It is very nice, Also has a nice Essex number plate which familiar for some reason?.I nearly went for that Sapporo at one point was well, It was on Ebay for £500 BIN at one point a year or two ago and was only in Chelmsford, But i divered about for to long and it sold and ended up on RR and in Plymouth at the time. You going to Rougham Wings & Wheels this weekend SL? I'm thinking about going Sunday, Not sure yet though.http://www.roughamairfield.org/wws09large.jpg

I can assure you if there'd been any Maestros there you'd be seeing them here! However, I did miss this bit of ARG tin in my earlier round-up:

Maestro/Montego wheels? If so, I'm surprised they're the same PCD. Looked good on it anyway, owners were of suitable age.

Glad the pic's have been of interest. More to come from another event, when I get time.

Trigger, I can't get to the Rougham thing sadly - mega weekend of work on the house planned. Think it's not only Wings and Wheels, but Steam too. What else can they add?...
