2.2 is prone to poorly injectors that can crack pistons if let go bad enough . It should be quiet and smooth from cold . If it gets noisy and “diesely” sounding then get the injectors tested.

 

We have three on lease and they all knock like fuck from cold. They have max 30k on them all as well, they all had to go in for a side door recall, and we couldn't get one in for ages as they had 5 awaiting engine warranty replacements.

We've just had an engine replaced under warranty at 27k after OMGHGF. One of the older (63) ones kettled at 61k after Citroen didn't put the plumbing back properly so the pipes rubbed together which they wouldn't fix under the 60k warranty. It was in bits for the oil pump recall. Peugeot didn't recall for this so one of ours grenaded at 100k when the oil pump died. If the heater stops working and it isnt the motor resistor then HGF will follow.

 

We curse them frequently but I don't believe that Ford, Vauxhall or the Germans make anything better.

What’s the service intervals on these? I think it might have missed it’s first service but then I’m seeing reports of it being 2 years / 30k so it won’t have been due one if that’s the case

With no history (assumed) and a decent outlay I'd get it serviced, oil and filters can't cost that much to DIY?

I’ll probably just chuck it into a garage for a service - if it hasn’t actually missed it’s first, Citroen.

Got to be honest I avoided the transit engined ones when I bought mine. The fiat 2.3 has some issues but pretty tough mechanically and no dmf either . Sorry

Can't complain about the engines in ours, other than the HORRIBLE noise they make on cold mornings. (which they've done since new. They're just like that, a proper horrible cackle).

Having put new injectors in a 2.2 and driven from cold they should be very smooth / quiet . If they aren’t then they are poorly
