MGF owners - who do you insure with?

Looking at a possible new addition but usual insurance companies I use are coming up with silly prices (over £250, when I can insure a Capri worth 10x for £65 or an mx5 of the same age for £98). There are a couple of possibles that are phone only so I will try them tomorrow but thought the collective genius that is AS may well have experience.

Does anyone with experience of these know anyone worth a try?

Tried Peter James?

Tried Peter James?

On the list to call tomorrow, they were brilliant for me for a few years but have been expensive recently but still worth a go. I can't work out why it's so expensive, I have put a few regs in from eBay cars and all MGFs come out the same so it's not the car but a 330 coupe is £100 cheaper!

They were recently half the price of the second placed quote for the MX5, X1/9 and Daf with unlimited milage.

Fingers crossed, just can't understand why the MGF seems to be so expensive, I have never had a problem before and always get below £100 on my classics. Not like it's a £40k e type or stupid horsepower TVR, there must be thousands around.

I've been insured with my old vvc at A-plan and the missus is insured with Lancaster through the mg owners club.

Cost around £40 to join but the discounted insurance more than makes up for it.

Plus there's regional club meets and shit.

Pete best used to be good.

Join the MG owners club and try FJ and PBIS. I tend to stick with them for pretty reasonable prices.

Footman James for me, while it adds a bit to the classic multicar policy because it's under 30 it's still far cheaper than the others

I found a cheap quote, went to see a very nice MGF, then realised it wasn't a soft top I wanted again, it was another mx5. Time to hit eBay.....

I found a cheap quote,

Well are you keeping it a secret? Least you could do after asking for names is come back with one yourself.

 good point, it was Adrian Flux, not renowned for their after crash service but not a big issue on a cheap car as probably wouldn't claim anyway.

They are usually pretty cheap for me to be fair.

They must be doing a hairdresser's car policy Ken as this is on with AF too.

Very nice, I have been looking at those for a while but no decent ones around here.

I put mine on an FJ multicar policy, last time I checked they'd cover an mg over 15 and a rover over 20. Badge engineering for your policy cover.
