Tales of the unexpected

Well, I didn't expect this. Having stored a car in the garage for the winter lay up. Done all the usual stuff. New oil and filter, full tank of petrol etc. Just discovered that a family of field mice have moved in! Chewed up some carpet and things in the boot to make a nest. Not found the nest as yet, and am unable to actually put traps or poison in the car. I couldn't bring myself to kill anything.

Just when you think you have covered everything eh?

Didn't expect that.

Mice seem to like wiring too, you might want to check that they haven't tried to eat any of that.

HT leads too. The buggers ate the ones I put in my Golf GTi (about ten years ago) about a week after I fitted them!

And they can build nests inside the cam belt cover. Guess what happens.

They get dizzy when you rev the engine?

I could ask Mr Ripley to add you to his nocturnal rounds if not too far away.

As above. Get a cat, I did and you dont have to do the killing then  :-P

BTB already has a bunch of big dogs.  A specially brave cat may be required!

I don't like killing things (animals anyway.........exceptions apply for some humans) either.........but if it is a choice between expensive repairs/buggered car and the Mices I reckon they are going to come second

Only one dog actually... But she seems like more at times! Also she hates cats. And rabbits. She would doubtless hate mice also but hasn't met any yet.

Indeed. I have placed a humane trap in the car baited with peanut butter, if they go for it then I can just take them some distance away and let them go.

When you walk out of the bathroom in bare feet in the middle of the night and step in what was considered to be the inedible parts of the mouse...
