Ex 83c Pug is up for sale again.

here is the original thread

http://autoshite.com/topic/26591-peugeot-307-in-devon-%C2%A3120/

MOT ran out, and so has the insurance now, I simply do not have time to mess about with it.

Cartakeback says £120 - that would be a shame as it is not a bad little runabout and defo wbod 2017/18

£80 to the first shitter to rock up with the reddies :D

Not a whole lots has changed with it, the gearbos still grumbles.

the mirror has been replaced

as have brakes all round and discs at the front

refixed the front bumper and front wings

Paintwork isnt bad at all, some dings and scratches on it but ok at 10 paces

Interior is all there

Passenger airbag light comes on sometimes

I'm finding it hard to believe that a 307, which I still regard as a New Car, is not only 15 years old, but also worth so little!  Somebody snap this up!

Still may be interested in this as well as the goona.

I'll pop over on Saturday if that suits you?

Collected today and fired straight in for MOT.

Failed on brake light bulbs, headlight aim, wanky indicator stalk and emissions.

Hopefully a clean up of the throttle body and new lambda sensor will sort it.

Mostly easy stuff, and less than I was expecting on an £80 car.

80 bucks!! These must be quite uncommon in three door flava as well?

nice to meet you and mrs foxhake who seemed a bit suspicious or your car buying prowess  :D

Looks like a result , 8)  should be a nice little runner for another year so long as you can put up with the gearbox noise.

by the way those massive speakers on the parcel shelf are not wired in which is good because they would sound more horrible than the gearbox. :D which I think is why they are not wired in

It's a nice colour! These are basically the same as the C4 and as some may know my old VTS did over 197000 miles and it still had the original rear trailing arm bushes etc. I know the VTS has a beefed up torsion bar, but still they do seem to last better than previous gen Pugs/Citroens.

Not sure what indicator stalk this has, but I have one from a VTS (so it has auto wipers/lights) and you can have it for less than cheapest ebay ad if you want it.

Edit; scratch that, I've just seen there is a proper Shite fix for the indicator stalk outlined in the link at the top of the page.

The rear suspension lasting better than old PSA stuff is down to the use of a cheap and cheerful torsion beam in place of the ingenious old trailing arm/torsion bar setup, meaning no trailing arm bearings to fail.

Cheers Richard, nice to meet you too.

Yeah I wired those 6x9s up and one worked but sounds terrible and the other didn't work at all. I also have no idea how to operate the stereo either. It drives nicely though.

having a think about emissions last night, like you do!

The car has not seen a decent engine service in the time that I owned it, probably not with 83c did either.

New air filter will not hurt the emissions readout before you start down lambda sensors etc

Is bog roll in the indicator stalk a bit like 20p in the handbrake?

Yeah, I had spotted the screws on the air filter housing looked like they hadn't been undone for a long while, I'll have a look at the weekend.

it sorts the left indicator coming on randomly. :D

so rather than preventing something from working like 20p in the handbrake it fixes something.

Not entirely sure why it should be an mot fail though as it does work but doesnt always self cancel

Cool so its a fix. Good idea really and cheap to replace. One sheet does plenty :)

also ideal if you find yourself cut short and have to take a dump at the top of a Motorway embankment

Indicator stalks replaced, all bulbs replaced, air filter replaced, filled up with cataclean, cleaned interior with the door open, light on, battery flat.

Dead.

Will not restart, even with a massive pajero battery.

Diagnostics have been applied all afternoon to no avail.

Shit.

At least I won't lose any money on it I suppose.

That's what you get for trying to make things better. :-)

I guess you didn't do the proper BSI shutdown procedure before disconnecting the battery?

Posted

You don't get a chance when it goes flat with the interior light on. No power at all, not even enough to lock it.

I was even listening to 6 music on my DeWalt battery radio and not using the car stereo.

Fuck it, it's not a massive problem, I'll just buy something else and weigh it in and get my money back.

Connect a battery. Open the drivers window and the bonnet.

Get out of the car and shut the door.

Turn the ignition off and remove the key.

Wait 5 minutes

Disconnect the battery

Wait 5 minutes

Reconnect the battery

Through the open window, insert the key and turn the ignition on ( do not start the engine )

Press the lock and unlock buttons on the key and verify the central locking works

Get in, close the door and start the engine

Posted

If the battery is fully charged and it goes into economy mode even after doing a BSI reset the BSI is probably fucked

Lexia can do a "proper" BSI reset too

If you try and start it, turn it off and leave the key in, open the door, it doesn't beep three times to let you know you've left the key in there.

I have tried the above. Also, the plipper doesn't work on the key so not much use.

It cranks over champion, as said, it has a 90a/h Pajero battery on it.

Posted

I think he said on the News 24 thread that it does crank.

Immobiliser then most likely - Lexia should show codes for trying to start it "without" the key (and also shows immobiliser chip present / not present)

Sensor ring on the barrel or the key itself

Posted

I imagine that the BSI is fucked.

All from a flat battery, gotta love that modern engineering.

BSI spews out a shit ton of fault codes when it goes down usually

Loads of unrelated shit.

You tried putting it into transport mode and then back into customer mode using the shunt on the BSI? Usually forces it out of economy mode for one or two ignition cycles

Posted

Or key, as above.

Not spending money on it or towing it to the closest Pug shop (8 miles).

Spoke to Peugeot earlier, "£110 to put it on diagnostics, £80 an hour to rectify faults, shall we book you in sir?“

How about, no.
