Misfiring Corsa D Pez (could it be MAF)

I think it is two pin and it's fitted to the intake pipe and it's the only sensor I can see just after the air box.

I cant actually see a MAF sensor on the car between the air box and the throttle body like on my old chod.

Some cars don't have a maf and use a manifold pressure sensor instead ( map) . Your disconnected sensor is the iat or inlet air temp sensor

Being as this is a N/A petrol and Vauxhall, I'm almost certain this will have a MAP. In fact it's not likely to have a separate intake temp sensor if it had a MAP as that usually incorporates one in it.

Thanks for the help I'm a bit confused with all this MAP MAF stuff my modern motor is over 20 years old so I'm out of my depth with all this tech but last time I had a similar problem with my old Audi I just disconnected the MAF and replaced it a week or so later so has MAP taken over from the MAF.

But being it's running ok with the inlet air sensor disconnected will it be worth me just putting a new one in and seeing if it works.

Also he's now running the car without the inlet air sensor connected but I don't want to bugger his car up but on the plus side he won't pester me again lol

Sorry I meant MAF, auto correct changed it back to MAP...

It will 100% be the MAF if you unplug it and it runs better.

Please please do not buy a cheap one, they are actually worse than the original non functioning item. Get a Bosch one for about £35 or so from eBay.

I have got a text back saying the car is running spot with it disconnected but I couldn't find a MAF on the car when I looked yesterday only that inlet air temperature sensor and I didn't have a clue it wasn't associated with a MAF as it was in the position I would associate finding one thanks for putting me right as it could of ended up an expensive mistake.

But I've seen someone selling a complete pipe with the sensor installed on eBay for not much money so I might ask my brother if he wants me to buy it and fit, it but he won't be happy if he has to see me 3 weekends in a row lol.

This is the part I found on eBay with a sensor installed.post-9282-0-20559500-1497768429_thumb.png

Also Amazon are doing the sensor but I'm still not sure if this is the one for his car but it's less than a tenner so will have to do some more digging to see if it's the correct one that goes into the intake pipe.

Before changing it, I'd plug in a diagnostic scanner (a cheap generic one should do here) and read the intake temperature. Otherwise you'll be swapping parts without verifying they're faulty. No intake sensor could be using a different engine map (note map, not MAP sensor) which ignores other sensors.

Today my brother popped over with the new air temp sensor as he's been running it a couple of weeks now with it completely disconnected and it hasn't played up once.

I fitted the new one and we went for a drive and it's now running perfect also once we got back I plugged the code reader back in and it's now code free so thankfully the cheap 8 quid sensor was a success
