Pressed felicity in to daily service a while ago now, and she's been putting up with the 2k miles per month the very best!

Then we had a visitor today! Awesome 32k miler felicia with snazzy wheels.

Had to take a pic!

It's strange how the wheels can make or break the aesthetics of a humble hatch back.  The one on the left, says the owner is  honest, reliable, sensible, and in tune with his own self, and his place in the world,  and the one on the right says "I've got a small penis and this is the best way to make up for it"

I thought the one on the right looked pretty cool actually...

It does.

I thought it looked like someone trying (too hard) to be pretty cool actually, in a kind of desperate way.

I reckon they make the Felicia look halfway like the designers sketches probably looked.

Today's design renderings never, ever include wheels that are anywhere near production-feasible, and they rarely did back then,

Well fair play to the chap. He spent twice the price of the car on a brand new set of wheels, must like the wee car. It was certainly in good shape compared to felicity!

I like those wheels-much better than some of the horrendous 5 spoke 19 inch wheels I see attached to many cars they just don't suit.

They are six spoke on the BX, so I don't let them offend me.

Well what does this say about me then?

In slight justification I think 15" is the perfect size wheel for a Felly. The 195/50s remove the understeer without the ride being too harsh and make it a lot more chuckable with complete confidence.

Perhaps we start a new thread. 'Cars with wheels worth more than the car.'

In my younger days I used to like all kinds of aftermarket wheels and modified cars, because chav boy racer, now however I think a nice set of wheels on an otherwise mostly standard car really look the business, preferably OEM slightly larger wheels from a higher spec model or a the next model up, e.g. Octavia vRS standard 16" wheels on a Fabia. OEM wheels are about one of the only big improvements on modern cars compared with older ones, some really smart OEM wheels around now.

I also think a plain set of 5 spoke alloys improves just about any car, the only ones i really really like steels or wheel trims on are things like Nova SRs, mk3 Cavalier SRIs etc.

Banging a set of cheap wheels on is hardly trying too hard. It does nothing but good things for the car, imo.

You are describing my way of thinking. 16" (1" larger than OE) on mine, and five spokes. They hail from an R32 GTS-T (F) and GT-R (R ) Sykyline, but the same rules apply, IMO. Perfect offset and stagger and period correct niceness FTW.

Those do look good^^^^

Agreed on the period correct thing too, wheels that are "too old" or "too new" for a car just dont look right, I see a lot of Fords round here with wheels like that and it either just looks like 'youve fucked your original wheels and went to a scrappy and bought the cheapest set that fits and they look totally out of place' or 'i got offered a set of mk7 Fiesta ST wheels cheap so i bought them and stuck them on my mk1 Focus' with no regard to actually whether they do anything for the car or not.

Im not really a fan of wheels that start off nice wheels, but they suddenly theyre everywhere and just look really common and like everyone has been a sheep and jumped on the bandwagon, owning a car heavily based on a mk5 Golf I noticed a lot of them with the kinda Turbine style 18s from Sciroccos, it doesnt look bad, just pointless because the car doesnt stand out any more than it did with the factory wheels.

Wheels can really make or break a car, amazing the difference in both a positive and negative way the right or wrong choice of wheels can make.

I also hate cheap copy OEM style wheels that exist for VXR Vauxhalls, BMWs, Audis and VWs, they just look tacky IMO, in much the same way aftermarket rip offs of OEM wheel trims do.

Agree with most of the above. Slightly larger OEM look.

Those are 15" steels from a VW G60 and I think they look great. My Ronals came along at a price I couldn't refuse. Also my friend needed his Citigo wheels back that I was using as he was trading it in and we couldn't let the Ronals go. I think they suit the car well. It's a timeless design that was around when the car was new. And they certainly make the car easy to find in a car park.
