wuvvum Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Interesting - my 6 has single-speed wipers but a 2-speed switch - assume for similar reasons. Junkman and somewhatfoolish 2
Junkman Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Question is whether one can upgrade* to the later motor? somewhatfoolish 1
Junkman Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Does it run better with new oils?Must not forget to change plugs and leads...
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Certainly needed changing. The difficultly I had unseizing the gearbox plugs suggest that oil had been in there a long time. I've just been out running your battery down making the obligatory Dash at Night photo. Forgot to mention, I also reconnected the windscreen washer system, but it doesn't pump. I'll have a closer look at it tomorrow, but since all the pipework needs replacing anyway we can always stick an electric pump in for the test. Junkman 1
Junkman Posted June 9, 2017 Author Posted June 9, 2017 If pumpage by means of the oregonol system won't ensue, maybe the electric pump could be wired to the two unused contacts of the wiper switch?Has there been a Renault/testing facility interface yet?

Possibly. But it would be on/off not momentary. On 09/06/2017 at 06:14, Junkman said: Has there been a Renault/testing facility interface yet? Next week it will. But I haven't been able to find anyone who wants to tackle the sill.

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 The passenger door was locked. Despite the car coming with four separate keys, none unlocked the passenger door. Not only was this a bit annoying, but it would also fail the MOT. I had a peek inside the door, but I couldn't figure out how the barrel is removed. I spent ages jiggling stuff and removing bolts, but it looks like they designed it to only come apart if the door is unlocked. Whatever. What happens if I buy a metal kebab skewer, file it into an approximate key shape and then just jam it in the lock? Problem solved. It has a hoop on the end so I put it on the keyring for convenience. Next problem, the missing windscreen washer system. We will be re-instating the original lave glace avec de pied, but we need some new pipes and joining pieces. In the short term though, it was decided to improvise an electric system with bits and pieces I had lying around. I knew I pulled this switch out of my scrapped Escort for something. Well, what more do you want? Lacquer Peel, CGSB, dome and 10 others 13
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I love this car! Need to get myself another 60s car. Junkman, oldcars, somewhatfoolish and 7 others 10

warren t claim Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 No torsion-air front suspension or torqueflite transmission?
Junkman Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 Most definitely torsion aire front suspension.Torqueflite is a miss though due to lack of torque. chaseracer 1
