S_P_0_T_Z - Scrap BX spotses

I had owned my first car for about 20 minutes when a Fuego ploughed in the back of it and then caused a ruckus because the driver demanded it was not his fault. Got it sorted in the end mind you. Should have been a write off but the insurance company even paid for the higher quote for the repairs to have it done properly.

From that day on i should have known that me and Imps don't mix but I refuse to learn.

Any of them for sale???????

Now THAT is exactly what I am looking for :P

Passing it, I spotted jump leads and general pishpash in the boot/back seat, so I don't think it's a garage stored example, although it's in excellent. I haven't seen it parked there since, was hoping it was a regular, I love those cars. They just seemed to all disappear one day ...

"Some" spots from the past couple of days. To say there is a lot of shite over here is an understatement, I saw a breaker's yard with Allegros and old Japanese crap in, A couple of hours out on the road is pretty amazing for a shite enthusiast like myself, but constantly taking photos is starting to grate now! Will take some more if I see anything nice. We're driving a new Honda Jazz and a Honda Wave 125cc bike, but nearly hired a pink Daihatsu Mira Turbo (which is in the pics)!

After getting to grips with riding my Yamaha Fino automatic thingy, I hit the streets. It's rainy season and as all of my clothes are drying from being soaked, I couldn't stay out to play for too long, to risk the chance of wearing a plastic bag over my loins for the rest of the week. I had to ride through 1 foot deep water as everywhere was flooded.

Also, I attract attention as the only white person in the town, and taking photos would garner me further interest, not of the aggressive kind, but I can't speak a word of the language!

This is a Toyota, is it a Cressida, I'm kack at this Japanese recognition thing:

Great stuff there! The mystery Toyota is a Corona, we got the 5dr version in the UK. About 0.2 rungs down the ladder from Cressida.

Not far off with the Mazda, a 616 I think.

It looks the same as one owned by someone on here, the same colour as well!

There's absolutely no law on car condition, with only a minor MOT style test (I think). A tiny jagged piece of rusty metal on the arch wouldn't result in the tester umming and ahhing, etc.

Superb Thai spottage old bean! I'd forgotten you were off there on your travels. Which provinces have you been to so far? I've seen number plates from all over... I'm guessing at least Pattaya (Chonburi plates). Will you be heading up north at all? Chiang Mai is where it's at!

Windowless minibuses like your green one are often used to transport farang (westerners) by cheap guest houses and tour companies. They load them up like cattle. Thai's wouldn't ride in them by choice: they are addicted to air con.

There's no MOT as such, the only checks happen upon change of ownership, and it is no more than a VIC check here.

There are few checks on the "driver" too, or his fitness to pilot a vehicle.

The "fibre-glass" Toyota is much more likely to have that effect by suffering repeated cheap blow-overs and subsequent sun fading. It's a nice effect!

Posted

Thanks! I was in Pattaya which I didn't know was a bit of a total 'tourist destination', but I'm in Ubon Ratchathani which is very quiet, which I like more. I book out on Tuesday and we were intended to go north, but not sure yet! I don't know how anyone could drive without air con over here! The people here are pretty awesome, it's going to be a massive shock coming back to the utter misery (in comparison) that is England.

More stuff ...

The Lancer is the most common old saloon here I think, followed by the Sunny and the old RWD Corollas. Spotting these cars every ten minutes was joyous.
